Safeway Select Super Premium Salted Caramel Butter Pecan Ice Cream

A Yummy Product Review

" Smooth and buttery, rich and creamy, and absolutely loaded with pecans! "
Safeway Select Super Premium Salted Caramel Butter Pecan Ice Cream is some of the best butter pecan ice cream I've had in years!

My sister called me at work, excited about a new ice cream she'd been having. "The best ice cream in the world!" is how she described it. She went on to describe the luscious Butter Pecan ice cream as being rich and buttery, with the pecans covered in caramel that had been sprinkled with sea salt, thus making the ice cream extra flavorful! She mentioned that it was on sale right then at Safeway, and that you got a second one free if you bought one of them!

I asked how much one box of ice cream cost and she said about $3.49. Not too bad, I thought. I planned to keep it in mind, but I'd just picked up some ice cream at Giant's, and besides, we'd been on a summer-long kick with picking up fruit flavored icees that we got exclusively at Giant's for just $1.00.! We'd come to like them so much that we surpassed visiting Rita's in lieu of getting larger sized icees for nearly half the cost.

Well, it just so happened that I'd forgotten about needing gas in my truck when I arrived at the subway station when returning from work. The fuel light had been on in the morning and I really didn't want to chance driving further to go to a cheaper station. I decided the closest station for me would be the one on the nearest main road, which I took. As luck would have it, one of those stations actually was reasonably priced as far as gas prices go these days. After refueling and pulling back out onto the main road, I was about to pass the shopping center when I remembered the deal at Safeway my sister had mentioned so I pulled in to check it out.

It didn't take me long to spot the Super Premium ice creams with the bright yellow buy 1 get 1 free stickers on the shelves. I was a bit surprised to see that the ice cream containers, though typically packaged in the oval-shaped paper tubs that most ice cream comes in these days, these $3.49 tubs were very tiny. They could almost be called single-serve packages. Looking at the label, I saw that this was a One Pint package container, and it held 4- 1/2 cup servings of ice cream.

The Safeway Select Super Premium Salted Caramel Butter Pecan Ice Cream, was indeed described as 'Creamy Butter Pecan Ice Cream Swirled with Pecans and Sea Salted Caramel.'

After making a couple more stops on my way home, my ice cream was just slightly melted on top. I was anxious to try it. It truly was very flavorful; rich and buttery, and not at all bland like even some of the better quality ice cream brands of Butter Pecan flavored ice cream can be. Every bite was smooth and creamy. There were loads of pecans, enough to have at least one or more pecan halves in every spoonful that went into your mouth. And they were nice sized halves too, not just little chopped up pieces of the pecans like some ice creams have scattered sparcely throughout.

Wow! My sister was right, this was some really good stuff! I can't attest to it being the best in the world at this point, because I don't have extensive experience in that department, but I can say that Safeway Select's Super Premium Salted Caramel Butter Pecan Ice Cream is one of the best variations of Butter Pecan-flavored ice cream I've ever had, and I'm really glad I picked up two boxes of it during the buy 1 get 1 free sale. It definitely helps to have a backup if there are more than one people in the house who like Butter Pecan ice cream!
