Sail Me

Alisande
"But the ship was now in the midst of sea,
tossed with waves;
for the wind was contrary."
Matthew 14:24

I know not how a sailboat works,
nor how to direct the wind in the sail,
nor can I understand how the blowing wind
uprights my boat when I fail.

It must be the structure of the boat
in the hands of the master of the sea.
So, too, will it take what I am
in the hand of the Master sailing me.

Come aboard, O Captain of the sea,
direct my craft to the shore;
guide me through the winds of life,
and bring me home forever more.....

"And when they were come into the ship,
the wind ceased.
Then they that were in the ship
came and worshipped him, saying,
Of a truth thou art the Son of God."
Matthew 14:32-33

    I just finished an article entitled, "Would You Let Your 16-yr old Sail Solo Around the World?" What so surprised me about the true tale of Robin Lee Graham, was not only his discovery of the world's oceans, but the discovery of the ocean's Creator!
    Thanks for the poem. Sail on! :)
