While new to most of the world this trio has finally released an album internationally and proved once again that a tiny island country covered with snow and ice is also full of talented musicians.
The trio of Biggi, John Geis, and Kjarten are better known as AMPOP. This trio form Iceland may be somewhat similar to fellow countrymen Sigur Ros in sound but the comparison ends there. AMPOP sings in English and their music has more of a rock sound; a classical rock sound to be precise. The keyboards play a prominent post in the music and some of their music has a distinct classical feel about it. The music of AMPOP is constantly moving and changing. Like an overture for a musical the tempo changes frequently along with numerous key changes and modulations.
"Sail to the Moon" is the third album for AMPOP but the first two were released only within their homeland of Iceland. The boys have also ventured across the Atlantic and was a part of the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
"Sail to the Moon" is the perfect companion for today's society with a hear it now short attention span always moving and changing.
