Saint Obnoxious T-shirts Versus Uneetee T-shirts

I am a t-shirt fiend. I love to wear t-shirts because they're simple and comfortable. When my old t-shirts started to look shabby because they were holey and stained, I started looking for new shirts. Since I live in northern Virginia, I tend to do a lot of shopping online. I let my fingers do the walking and found two great t-shirt shopping venues, Saint Obnoxious OnlineStore and Uneetee Online Store.

Saint Obnoxious Online Store

Harrisburg, PA based Saint Obnoxious Online Store specializes in obnoxious t-shirts. I am a bit of an obnoxious person, so this quality suits me just fine. When you land on this site, you'll hear a voice say "Life is too short to drink shitty beer." Indeed, this store's t-shirts are all about promoting high quality brew, so it probably won't appeal to teetotalers or people who are offended by cuss words. Saint Obnoxious, the proprietor of the site, claims to be a beer swilling 16th century monk stuck in a 21st century world. His shirts all feature cartoon drawings of Saint Obnoxious and his sidekick, Sister Bodacious. T-shirts for guys and girls are available and range in price between $17 and $22. A variety of colors are available and the shirts are all made of high quality, pre-shrunk 100% cotton.

I found this site in January 2007, right after I sent my husband off to Iraq for a six month deployment. Yes, the designs are obnoxious and, for some, potentially offensive, but they were just what I needed that day. I had no trouble picking out two shirts, especially since I like big shirts. I did notice, though, that small shirts seem to be in short supply. Shipping for standard delivery starts at $5 and the site accepts orders online and by phone. Saint Obnoxious accepts all major credit cards and PayPal. I used PayPal to pay fo my two shirts, which I received via the U.S. Postal Service two days after I placed my order.

When I got my shirts, I found a cute strand of beads with a big handpainted Saint Obnoxious charm on it. The shirts ran true to size and have become welcome additions to my t-shirt collection. Saint Obnoxious offers a few other items besides shirts, but I will warn that this site is strictly for folks who have an off color sense of humor.

Uneetee Online Store

I found Uneetee Online Store very recently when I was looking for more t-shirts. Like Saint Obnoxious Online Store, Uneetee is all about selling offbeat t-shirts. Unlike Saint Obnoxious Online Store, Uneetee is all about keeping things fresh and original. Artists submit their designs to the site and each day, an artist's design is featured for exactly 24 hours or until it sells out, whichever comes first. After that 24 hour period, the shirt goes off the market. There's also a Collection category, where certain shirts are offered for a longer time. The shirts can be ordered in male or female styles, but there's no choice of colors. Shirts that are featured as one day designs are sold in limited quantities and only three can be purchased at a time. On Sundays, the site re-runs shirts that were featured as one day collection shirts earlier. This allows people a second chance to buy shirts they might have missed.

Again, I found two shirts that I wanted; both were in the Collection category and were priced at $15. The One Day designs tend to be less expensive; perhaps because they're still being proven. Shirts are sold in men's and women's styles; the women's styles are more fitted and cost $2 more than the men's styles. So far, I've seen prices for the shirts range between $13 and $17. XXL sizes are also priced $2 more than smaller sizes.

I placed my order on a Tuesday and received my shirts on Friday via the U.S. Mail. Shipping is priced at $4 for the first shirt and $2 for each additional shirt. I was pleased with the construction of my t-shirts, which were made of high quality, pre-shrunk 100% cotton.

Comparing the two stores

Although Saint Obnoxious and Uneetee sell similar products, they are very different businesses. Saint Obnoxious seems to cater to people who like to drink beer and be silly. Uneetee offers products that are more artistic, although they also seem to be catering to people who are a bit offbeat. Both stores offer styles for men and women. Uneetee charges more for the women's style, but Saint Obnoxious doesn't. On the other hand, Saint Obnoxious charges more per shirt. Both stores sell shirts made of high quality, pre-shrunk 100% cotton and in my experience, both sites' shirts run true to size. Both stores accept all major credit cards and ship using U.S. Mail. Saint Obnoxious highlights the work of one artist, while Uneetee features many different artists' work. Although Uneetee specifically caters to folks looking for one of a kind designs, Saint Obnoxious also offers a product that's original and fun, even if I don't always want to wear a shirt that says "Life is too short to drink shitty beer" in public!

In conclusion

I think both Saint Obnoxious and Uneetee are great stores for the discriminating t-shirt fan. However, Uneetee probably offers a product that will appeal to more people than Saint Obnoxious does. I like the idea that I'm supporting the work of small time artists when I shop at Uneetee and I like that I can see how much each artist has made. Uneetee has shirts that I can expose to all sorts of audiences and not worry about offending anyone. On the other hand, I love a good beer drinking shirt, too. But for overall appeal and originality, I have to give props to Uneetee and recommend it over Saint Obnoxious.
