Saint Patrick's Day Craft - Shamrock Party Hat
Easy Saint Patrick's Day Party Hat You Can Make with Your Kids!
For this Saint Patrick's Day project, you will need green construction paper, green pipe cleaners (two per hat), and normal craft supply stuff like scissors, tape, glue, crayons, markers, and decorative items like stickers, glitter, pom poms, buttons, or whatever decorative items you have on hand. If you want to make your own paste, please see my paste recipe article [3 Paste Recipes: Thin Paste, Paper Paste, Classroom Paste].
Start by cutting a long strip of construction paper about three or four inches wide. You will need to glue or tape strips of construction paper together to make the strip long enough. Make the strip just long enough so that when you put the ends together, the band will just fit on your child's head. Then secure the band by taping or gluing the ends together.
After your band is made, take two pipe cleaners and twist them around a pencil so they are curly. Stretch them out a bit and glue or tape them on each side of the band so they are sticking up. Then cut out two shamrocks (you can find a shamrock template on this page) and glue or tape the shamrocks to the ends of the pipe cleaners (see a photo of the finished hat by clicking on Project 4 on this page).
Now your Saint Patrick's Day party hat is done and all you have left to do is decorate it! You can color it, add stickers or glitter to it, glue other items on like buttons or bead or even macaroni! No matter how you decorate it, you will have the best Saint Patrick's Day hat ever!
