Saint Valentine

Mike Gagnon
We give this love this shape, this form

We say it will shelter from the most powerful storm

But whats in a lovers heart is not always whats in lovers head

What comes from lovers mouth is not always whats in lovers bed

The act of love is confidence in that we know what we truly cannot

Have you played a cruel trick on us Saint Valentine?

I think not.

To truly love one must forgive, release, believe

Saint Valentine you've shown us well that love need not be a living hell

That true love can guide us away from Satan's spell

It's up to us to make a life where things are tender, true and bright

Where we can believe what lover says is in their heart, their mouth, their head

An ancient saint pointed the way, to live our lives the way we live the day

Saint Valentine, thank you
