Saints Row: GTA Ripoff, or a Genuine Action/Adventure?

Saints Row starts you off in a cut scene where, for no apparent reason, 5 gangs are shooting and bombing each other. After nearly getting run over, you are recruited into the Saints Row gang, and here begins your perilous and pointless journey. This game's shallow content makes it seem like a GTA ripoff that fails to meet regular standards. The game does let you customize your character, but that ends up meaning he doesn't talk, which makes the game lose creativity. Saints Row did a decent job of filling up the holes GTA left, but failed to give depth to the overall game experience.

The graphics/audio in Saints Row is pretty good, the graphics aren't anything special, but I was pretty impressed by the sound. Instead of playing the story line, sometimes I would go to the foreign car deal, get myself a nice sports car, and let the engine roar. Besides that, the game gives a simple cartoon appearance which is apparently how designed it to be.

I think this game is like GTA, but a bit worse, and some will probably argue with me, but just take a look at these points. The story line is like I mentioned shallow, and did lure me in like GTA did. The whole free roam concept is the same, except it comes nowhere close to topping GTA's revolutionary free roam. When you are taking people's cars, it looks exactly like GTA, you grab the guy in the car, and pull him out and throw him and say something just like in GTA. Sure the cars are a bit better, but why buy a game for cars when the whole concept of the game is...Well in this game nothing, but you get my point.

My call is don't buy this game, I am glad I rented it because I got bored in a couple hours The story line is far from impressive, and it seems your goal is to "rescue the prostitutes from their abusive pimps." If you like GTA style games...stick with GTA, Saints Row's developers may deny this is a GTA ripoff, but the only reason I can see you would get this game, is to drive around in the nice selection of foreign cars they have. I know some might disagree with me, and see this game from another point of view, but honestly as a GTA fan, I would have to disagree with the fact that this game offers anything more than GTA.
