A short drive from Boston, Salem is a beautiful coastal city. Any time of the year it's a great place to visit whether it is for the ocean view, the history or just the haunted fun.
Massachusetts is a beautiful state in the autumn so October is the best time of year and the most popular to visit Salem. If you chose to visit Salem you should plan your trip ahead to get the most out of it.
I would suggest visiting the museums, Hollywood House of Wax, House of the Seven Gables, New England Pirate Museum, Peabody Essex Museum, Salem Wax Museum, Stephen Phillips Memorial Trust House, Salem Witch Museum, Salem's Museum of Myths and Monsters, Spellbound Museum, Witch Dungeon Museum, Witch History Museum, and Witch House. A variety of museums and displays also memorials and haunted houses such as Salem Witch Trials Memorial, Witch Mansion in 3D, Terror on the Wharf, Salem Willows Amusement Park, Salem Strolls, Ghost walks , and many more.
During the holidays especially they do live reenactments of a trial in which you follow them to the hall and partake in a trail. It's very entertaining to watch and learn about how the trials took place.
Shopping in Salem offers you so many different options then you see in your every day mall. The local stores provide all types of options from stores that provide you with knowledge of the witchcraft religion and items such as candles, herbs and crystals; to stores you can get fake vampire teeth and blood. I personally suggest you visit The Broom Closet or The Cat, the Crow, and the Crown.
Food in Salem can be pricey but for your best local tastes I suggest Brothers Restaurant & Deli if you're looking for an inexpensive quick deli style meal, Nathaniel's for an elegant dining experience, or Caffe Graziani for a breakfast/brunch you'll never forget.
Staying a few nights? Well then you'll want to know the best places to stay right?
There Bed and breakfasts such as Amelia Payson House, Coach House Inn, Henry Derby House, Morning Glory Bed & Breakfast, Northey Street House, Stepping Stone Inn, and Suzannah Flint House. However someone might want the hotel setting so there are also a couple hotels and inns in the area. Hawthorne Hotel is the most popular known and well pronoun for its hauntingly good time costume ball.
Salem is the best option for a great Hallowscreaming good time! So if your looking for the best Halloween experience Salem is the place to be!
