Salem, Massachusetts: Halloween Haunts Guide

Salem, Massachusetts may be a small city, only 18.1 square miles, to be exact, but it is a city bursting at the seams with history. Most noted for the legendary 1692 witch trials, Salem was also a bustling seaport of historical proportions in early America. Salem happens to be one of my favorite places to visit here on the beautiful Massachusetts North Shore.

I have provided a link to an unexplained apparition in a Salem photo taken at the House of the Seven Gables and websites of things to do in and around the Salem area. These ideas are worth considering if you plan a visit here for Halloween.

Little Boy Ghost at the House of the Seven Gables - This link has three photos of what appears to be a young boy outside the famousHouse of the Seven Gables. The mysterious photo, snapped by a visitor from New York, clearly shows a boy in the shrubbery outside the famous house.

Spellbound Tours - Owner and operator Mollie Stewart, known as "the ghost lady of Salem," has a five-star rating on her Salem, Massachusetts tours. Mollie Stewart is a certified parapsychologist, licensed ghost hunter with the International Ghost Hunters Society and author of the book Ghosts Among Us. Spellbound Tours offers afternoon and night tours.

Salem, Massachusetts - The City Guide - This website covers an array of must-see interesting places to visit in Salem. One of these is the Corwin House/Witch House located at 310 Essex Street. The Corwin House/Witch House is Salem's only standing structure directly connected to the 1692 witch trials. A tour of this house takes the visitor through life in the 17^th century, as well as intriguing insights into the witch trials.

Haunted Salem- Your Guide to the Witch City - This is a cool, information-packed site with so much to pick from, you will not know where to begin. From haunted houses to ghost and vampire tours, there is something for everyone here. There is also information about Spellbound Museum, which is a unique museum full of supernatural curios from around the world.

If you are a ghost hunter or merely dabble in ghost hunting, the museum has a display of paraphernalia the earliest ghost trackers used to detect paranormal activity.

Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour - There are a variety of tours offered in Salem, but the Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour is Salem's original ghost walk. Dressed in period attire and ghostly costumes, the experienced guides walk you through the history of creepy cemeteries, local paranormal activity, colonial witchcraft and tales of Salem's dead.

Salem, Massachusetts is a wonderful place to visit in fall and especially exciting on Halloween. Be advised, however, that Salem is heavily crowded on Halloween with thousands of spookily costumed partygoers. Halloween night in Salem may not be appropriate for small children.
