I know I wrote about the sales tax holiday in Arkansas that we have finally gotten, this year (At Last! The Arkansas Sales Tax Holiday). Last year, I took advantage of being in a border-town area, and went to Oklahoma, about which you can read here. I am a big fan of saving money, and with three children for whom I have to purchase clothing and school supplies, any money saved is good news for me. There are many states that have this opportunity, and I will include the link that shows which ones have it, but since I live in Arkansas and close to Oklahoma, I feel I should let the people in this area know about both. Also, since there are other states that have this nice little bonus, there may be people who live close enough to drive into another state to take advantage of it.
I saved a lot of money in Oklahoma, last year. I was able to purchase things for not only my school-aged children, but I was able to buy things for my son who was still in preschool, such as pull-ups. Between sale prices and the lack of taxes, the savings were a nice bonus. While I am happy to not have to drive into another state to get the savings, I appreciate the ability to do so when it was necessary. I also think it was wise to keep the money that was going over to the businesses in other states, here. Besides, an appreciative constituency is one that is more likely to feel as if the government listens and cares.
There is also the fact that I have a lot of family and friends in Oklahoma and other states that have these holidays or are close enough to make the drive to save the money. I hope this short article will help spread the word to people in the multiple states that have this amenity, since I am including the link that shows where the savings can be had. This way, they can wait to do their shopping until more can be had for the money. In this economy, every little bit of money saved can make a big difference in whether a bill gets paid or gas is able to be put into a vehicle.
To see the information for Arkansas, click here. You will be able to navigate to the itemized list, FAQ's and the times and dates. For Oklahoma, click here for the same options. Finally, click here to see what other states have a tax holiday. There is a link next to each state that will lead you to further information. Even if your home state does not have a tax holiday, you may live close enough to one to make the drive worth it. I hope this article helps with everyone's back to school shopping.
