Sally Field Vs. Patricia Heaton

Fluff Sounds Better Than the Truth

Donna H. Davey
During her acceptance speech at the 2007 Emmy Awards, Sally Field stated: "If mother's ruled the world there would be no ***damn wars in the first place."

While I don't believe that war is gender specific, I do feel that Sally Field was mistaken, even if she meant well. Mothers are women and women wage war against each other. To see evidence of this all you have to do is step foot inside a middle school. Examples are endless but one tragic case was when Lori Drew, a mother, deceived and bullied 13-year-old Megan Meier which resulted in Megan Meier committing suicide. That war wasn't fought fair; it was devious and nothing short of wanton cruelty.

Then there are some Muslim mothers who want to annihilate Westerners and would use their babies to do so.

Perhaps Sally Field's declaration was wishful thinking because it had no basis in reality.

Additionally, Sally Field's use of profanity is the real reason she was censored; it had nothing to do with her anti-war ramblings.

Patricia Heaton responded to Sally Field's assertion by saying: "I've actually become a more violent person since I became a mother. If someone came between me and my kids, they'd be dead meat. So I didn't agree with that particular statement."

Patricia Heaton is right. No one comes between a mama bear and her cub; if so, look out! In my experiences women seem to be far more vindictive than men and hold grudges a lot longer. Whereas many men will duke it out and shake hands later, many women get even by employing underhanded tactics, which are sneaky and cause a lot of damage.

The reality is that human beings will always wage war against each other and to believe otherwise is absurd.

To read more I highly recommend this article written by Michelle Malkin: Sally Field Does Not Speak for Me, Motherhood requires ferocity.

  • Most women are not pacifists, even the ones who pretend to be.
  • The most vicious people I've ever dealt with have all been women.
  • In my observations, women seem to take offense quicker than men do.
I think if only moms ruled the world, we'd all be vaporized already.
