Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Truly Translucent Loose Powder Review

The Pen
I've been watching TLC's 'What Not to Wear' for years and I've always been a fan of the show's makeup artist Carmindy because she always makes women's complexions look flawless. So when I learned a year ago Sally Hansen's new line of natural cosmetics called Natural Beauty was inspired by Carmindy I was eager to try them.

Unfortunately during that time I couldn't find the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy anywhere in my city but a couple of weeks ago I saw it at CVS so I decided to try one of the products.

I settled on the Sally Hansen Truly Translucent Powder because I've never tried a loose powder before, but I noticed that Carmindy would always use a light translucent powder to set makeup and add a flawless finish on the show.

I wanted this Sally Hansen Natural Beauty product to set my makeup and keep my skin oil-free, and on days when I didn't wear any makeup, help make my skin look healthy and dewy.

The Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Truly Translucent Powder costs $12.99. The website www.sallyhansennaturalbeauty.com claims that the "ultra-fine loose powder provides skin-perfecting coverage with a seamless and naturally translucent finish."

While the "emollient pomegranate and papaya extracts help restore suppleness. Natural bamboo powder helps absorb oil. And antioxidants keep the skin looking and feeling healthy."

Truly Translucent comes in a small jar and the loose powder rests inside. There's a plastic layer with holes covering the powder that looks like an inverted salt shaker cap. The cap that covers the entire jar has a large makeup sponge attached to it.

In order to use the Sally Hansen Truly Translucent you close the cap completely and shake and a small amount of loose powder falls directly onto the sponge, so it's not messy. But I found that it can take forever to tap enough of it onto the sponge to cover my face.

I bought the powder in a shade called Medium Deep and it turned out to be one or two shades too light for me. I have golden brown skin and the Medium Deep shade was more of a beige/brown tone, it reminded me of the color of sand. But I tried it anyway.

I used the Sally Hansen Natural Beauty on a bare face and when it went on it looked a little light and chalky so at first I didn't think it was all that translucent but when I began to buff it into my skin it became transparent.

It felt soothing and it gave me a really healthy looking complexion even though I didn't use a lot. My skin looked completely natural but brighter and dewier. I was surprised that even though Truly Translucent was so light (in color and texture) that it was still able to conceal minor dark and red spots without looking obvious or heavy.

And it helped to reduce the oil in my skin. Instead of it looking greasy at the end of the day my face looked like it was glowing.

In the End...

I really liked how Sally Hansen's Natural Beauty inspired by Carmindy Truly Translucent Loose Powder made my skin look even though the color wasn't an exact match for my skin.

I'm going to buy the Deep shade which should match and I think it's going to be perfect to use this summer when I only want to wear weightless makeup. It will keep my skin will looking fabulous and oil-free, and feeling calm. My only real complaint was the packaging it took way too long to apply.

I give this product 4.5 out of 5 stars.
