While searching for nail supplies at a local drug store I found the Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in a square bottle. After deciding to give the brand a chance I chose a pretty soft color called Dawn to Earth. The color is number 220 in the collection. It's a frost finish and a soft pink rose color and also has an earthy tone to it.
During my next manicure I tried my Dawn to Earth color. I was impressed that the top was a black rubber material which made the bottle easy to open. Things were looking good. The directions on the back of the bottle said to shake gently and apply two or three coats. As I began to paint my nails I noticed that the polish was a bit thin with the first coat. I applied two coats and the color showed up much better. I didn't want to risk trying three coats and the polish becoming too thick on my nails. I was satisfied with the two coats after awhile. The brush on this nail lacquer was standard and worked adequately. After wearing the polish a couple of days it didn't hold up as well as I would have liked, but I plan to solve that with a stronger topcoat.
Sally Hansen Nail Lacquer costs about $5.99. I think it is overpriced for the consistency of the polish. It is convenient to purchase, however, because it can be found in most drugstores. It also costs less than pricier lacquer brands.
Overall I wouldn't recommend the Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer over other nail lacquer brands such as OPI and China Glaze. The best part of the product is that it is easy to open. You won't have to worry about the bottle being hard to open. I wouldn't buy another bottle of this brand of lacquer. The Sally Hansen company should stick with its great nail treatment polishes. While I'll continue to use my Dawn to Earth color I won't be buying anymore lacquers from this company.

Post a CommentI am trying to find a color that I love - it is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails - the color is Choco Mousse Creme 4404-04. Do you still make this color and where can I get it ?
Great review, though every brand I've ever tried including OPI chips super easily. I guess I just use my hands too often!
I HATE this product...I have worn nail polish for YEARS, and done them myself - I have long nails. I liked a shade of the Lacquer and decided to do one coat, on top of a base coat - then go about my business (dinner, etc.) - it had already chipped! The color is awesome, the wear is approximately 10 minutes after it's dried IF you don't touch anything.
Good review, thanks!
An excellent and honest review. Thanks for sharing the info.
Very good, honest review!
If the best part of the product is that it is easy to open, the product does not sound too attractive.
I think the name brand sells it. As for the review, my niece would say, "Fabulous!" I use cheap stuff myself.
I've used Sally Hanson products and found the same thing as you, that it doesn't hold up too well, but I love their top coat..wish i could think of which one I use...
Thanks for the review. I wouldn't normally spend $5.99 on a product like this though.
