Sally's Salon Game: Strategy Guide, Tips and Cheats

Beauty School Dropout? You Don't Need a Cosmetology License to Play Sally's Salon!

Operate your own beauty parlor in Sally's Salon, a time management game for the PC, Mac and iPod. In this time management game, you're responsible for managing every aspect of salon operation: from styling hair to giving eyebrow waxes to hiring employees to operating the cash register-all while keeping customers happy. In this Sally's Salon game guide, discover these tips and tricks to help you progress through the levels. These tips apply to all platforms of Sally's Salon.

Hire employees right away:
As soon as you have enough cash, buy a hair washing employee and hair drying employee. This frees Sally up for other tasks in the salon.

Take shortcuts:
Selecting hairstyles, hair color and eyebrow waxes for each customer according to their tastes is time consuming. There's no way of getting around it (e.g. your employees do not do this task for you). In a pinch, if the first option pops up with a "straight" smile from the customer, select it and move on, rather than scrolling through the list looking for the "happy" smile. You won't gain any hearts, but you won't lose any either.

Get Grandma and Grandpa through the salon ASAP:
The happy old couple insists on being tethered to each other 24/7 and must go through each salon station at the same time. This can create a log jam in your salon. When you see these two walk in, get them in the hair washing station the minute two chairs open up. Work them through the stations, so they stop tying up your chairs.

Use the candles:
In later levels, candles are vital to passing the level. Three candle types are available, two improve customer patience and mood and one increases tips. The patience and mood candles are much more important and useful than the tips candle. Never use your candles unless your salon is full-you only get one of each candle you've purchased on each level.

Don't bother with the coffee maker or magazine rack upgrades:
As someone who finished this game herself, I bought the coffee maker and the barista, but never used them. I found that I rarely used the magazine rack at all. Once you get going in the further levels, time is valuable and Sally won't have time to run around serving coffee or handing out magazines. Save your money for other upgrades.

Are there any cheat codes?
No. There isn't a way to "cheat" in the traditional sense of the word by typing in a code. Users must execute a good strategy to pass each level.

I never wanted to operate a salon but sounds like someone who does could enjoy this.

This sounds cool. I'll pass this on to a friend who is trying to get into that type of business. Maybe she can get her feet wet with this. Thanx!
