Salman Rushdie has done it all from writing children's books to getting death threats but what we often forget is that the man really is one of the world's few geniuses. A real living legend.

Rushdie, who has received death threats from the leaders of Iran in the past, has once again visited the canon of children's literature with his latest work, "Luka and the Fire of Life." The story is a classic myth that explores the relationships between sons and fathers while at the same time examining the structure of reality and fantasy.

The book is a companion piece, in a way, to his freshman attempt at books for kids, "Haroun and the Sea of Stories," which was written for his then 9-year-old son, Zafur. "Luka" was written for the author's second son, Milan.

In essence, "Luka" is a magical story not just for the kids, but everyone. Rushdie will be at the powerHouse Arena in DUMBO for a signing on November 16 at 1:00 PM.

The powerHouse Arena is located at 37 Main Street at Water Street. Mr. Rushdie will be able to sign books purchased at the event only. Admission is free.
