Salt Clay Scented Cookies: Make Your Home Smell Divine with This Easy Recipe

AC FITNESS BOY
Would you like your home to always smell like chocolate chips? Or cinnamon and vanilla? You can with these natural air fresheners. On the bonus side, they might help you curb your appetite and give your home a more relaxed atmosphere.

All you need is:

For Cinnamon and Vanilla "cookies"

Mix 1 1/4 cup white flour

3/4 cup cinnamon

1 cup Salt

2 tbsp vegetable oil

3/4 - 1 cup water

2 Tbsp imitation vanilla extract.

Mix flour, salt, and cinnomon,

Mix in oil and usually about 3/4 cup water slowly, then 2 tbsp vanilla.

You should get a good clay consistency. Once completed make shapes. I like to put saran wrap in a Claussen pickle jar lid and mold the clay in it. Once a disk is formed, I like to poke a design like a heart or a star in the top for added aeration with a tooth pick.

Used this way, a batch can make about 9 disks or "cookies".

If you choose to make something else, don't make it too thick or it will crack with baking.

This is a fun, easy project that you can do on the weekend.

You can substitute the cinnamon for cocoa powder and add a about ½ cup more flour and have chocolate disks instead. It takes about an hour in an oven preheated at 250. An hour and a half at the most.

Your house will smell like baked goods, and there's no calories. You can then heat them up in the microwave for about a minute later on to release the scent again. They look nice and are about the color of brown sugar and don't cost a lot. They are fairly harmless if a dog chewed on one and they make great gifts without making your friends fat.

I think anyone who can follow a recipe can make these and have a more natural alternative to chemical air freshener using wholesome ingredients. I haven't tried it, but you could probably use 2 cups flour, no cinnamon or chocolate and add a few drops of essential oils like lavender or lemon juice in it for a different scent. It just comes down to using common scents, (pun intended)

I made about 9 disks of each and enjoy them regularly. They smell divine and you can even make a flour salt clay with 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt and 2 tbsp vegetable oil and 3/4 to 1 cup water and bake as before. If your really creative, you can add food coloring and get pink, green and blue and yellow as well as white clay. Children can do this easy project and get a lot of satisfaction from it.
