You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his flavor, with which shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Dear Christian brothers and sisters, our country is in need of preservation. We hear prophets proclaim the warning of impending disaster for the United States of America.
Do we take their warnings seriously? Should we? We are no longer under the Covenant of the Law but under the Covenant of Grace. However, there is the Spiritual Law of Sowing and Reaping. Are these prophecies of doom unchangeable?
Certain things are going to come to pass to fulfill the prophecies God has set forth in His Word, but this does not mean we have to lie down and give up or cower in fear. We have a great example in Genesis 18 and 19.
Our Lord came to visit Abraham, and on His way to visit Sodom and Gomorrah. When the Lord told Abraham about the wickedness of these two cities, Abraham did not just say, "Okay my Lord. Your judgment is good. They deserve it."
No, Abraham did not just stand by passively. Abraham dared have a conversation with our Lord. Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham pleaded with our Lord that the cities would be saved for the sake of the few righteous that might be living in the city. Abraham repeatedly asked the Lord our God to save the cities for a decreasing number of righteous people, all the way down to only ten.
Abraham figured with his nephew Lot, Lot's wife, their daughters, and their sons-in-law and their children, there had to be at least ten righteous people left who loved God. (see Gen 19:12-14) Yet, when the angels of the Lord went on to Sodom, instead of greeting them or fearing them, the men of Sodom wanted to violently molest them. Lot's sons-in-law and daughters that did not live with him would not gather in Lot's house. That left only four righteous who would obey the command of God. There were not enough righteous people to preserve Sodom.
When we hear prophecy against this great nation of ours, we need to be like Abraham. We MUST intercede for our nation. No, we do not live under Old Covenant Law, but prophecies concerning impending judgment are more likely prophecies proclaiming the reaping of sin and evil sown. Instead of fleeing these areas, as Christians, we should flock to these areas and participate in travailing intercession to give birth to an outpouring of God's mercy, grace and love.
We pray "Thy kingdom come" yet we fail to remember that Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within each believer. Will we carry the kingdom of God within us to a world bound by sin and in need of the great love of our God and be the salt we are created to be, or will we run away because our hearts have turned to cold stone?
It is not our job to judge the world of its sin. There is one Judge. This Judge has already paid the price for all the sin in the world. He has born all the evil and judgment for each and every person who would choose to believe in Him.
There is only one great and terrible Day of Judgment. We are not at that day yet. We are still in this earth. We are still the salt of the earth. We absolutely must preserve this country with the love God has placed within each of us. This is the only way the world will know God truly exists - the absolute, unconditional love of the body of Christ walking in the love and power of our Lord.
We are the salt of the earth. YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH! Let us daily preserve our communities, states, country and the world with our daily intercession and love.
Do we need another example? Do we need an example of someone being salt to the point of putting his very own eternal life on the line to preserve the people he loves?
In Exodus 32 and 33 we see how, when Moses went up to meet with God, the people of Israel so quickly and easily turned away from God, made a molten calf, and worshipped it as if it were the god that delivered them out of Egypt and protected them from the greatest army of the time at the Red Sea. They gave worship that belonged to Almighty God to a graven image that they themselves had made. God told Moses to stand aside while He destroyed the entire camp of Israel and started the nation of Israel all over with Moses.
What did Moses do? Did he say, "Sick 'em God. They are terrible sinners who hate You. Destroy every last one of them."? No, Moses put his own eternal life on the line. Moses plead with God to forgive the sin of Israel. Moses plead to the point that he told God, "if you will forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written." (Ex. 32:32)
Moses was telling God, if You, the True and Righteous Judge of all the earth will not forgive Israel of their sin, then count me sinful among them. Take my own name out of Your Book of Life (Rev. 21:27).
What in the world was Moses doing? Telling God to blot himself out of the Book of Life? Moses was travailing in intercession with his entire being before Almighty God. Moses was loving the people of God with everything that was within him. Moses was pleading with all the love for his neighbors he could muster within himself.
What was Moses doing? Moses was being SALT. Moses was preserving the nation of Israel.
This is how we love our neighbors, our communities and our country. We live as the salt God created us to be.
You are the salt of the earth. God has entrusted to you the preservation of your household, your community and the nation in which you live. God Almighty Himself chose YOU to be the salt of the earth for such a time as this!

Post a CommentGreat points Jim. We are worth great value to God and He thought so much so as to send His Son to die for us. Wow...that blows me away. Fine work.
