Salt was once considered to be of the same monetary value as gold in early civilizations. Civilizations would leave their homes in search of this precious element when they no longer had a supply. Friends would sometimes give bags of salt and loaves of bread to their guests as a friendly gesture. Salt's value has always been important, although in this day in age, it does not have the same monetary value that it once held, however, the health benefits of the substance is priceless.
Ingestion of salt works wonders, however, salt has the ability to heal the body and clean the air. This is why salt lamps have become an intriguing accessory to the home. These brightly colored giant salt crystal lamps have the means to take bad particles out of the air and soothe the air that you breathe. Sodium and chlorine are extremely toxic and dangerous when they are alone, however, combined and burned these elements instantly clean the air around it. "The sodium atom has only one electron in its outer shell. Because chlorine has seven electrons in its outer shell and needs one more to be full, they come together gracefully in an ionic bond."
Many of the "bad" things present in the air, pollution, allergens, viruses, and molds have positive charges, and however, salt has a negative charge that is instantly attracted to the positive charges in the air. The two bond together and then fall to the ground and can be easily vacuumed up.
Soothing walks on the beach, refreshing mountain air, and smelling the fresh air after a thunder storm can be extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. The reason for this is because these things all produce millions of negative ions that have the ability to clean out the positive ions in the air. Salt lamps do the same thing.
When there are too many positive ions floating in the air, you may begin to feel fatigue, restlessness, headaches, depression, and illnesses. However, by simply lighting a salt lamp with a candle or light bulb, the sodium atoms become separated from the chlorine ions and gently and instantly clean the air from harmful particles.
Salt lamps are naturally beautiful and happen to be a great addition to any home. You can place them by computers, televisions, microwaves or anywhere that has a large abundance of positive ions. You can light one to relax after a hard day of work. You can light one in your child's room as a gentle nightlight, or you can just sit and read and enjoy life.
If you are looking for a great unique gift or just something refreshing for your home, you should consider the purchase of an authentic salt lamp.
