Salty Tears in My Coffee

Jayden Nightshade
Two in the morning wide awake,

Wondering what would it take,

To keep my mind from wandering,

Now I'm sitting here pondering.

My only son is now a husband,

He has married his best friend,

The sweetheart of his life,

Has just become his wife.

Many reasons why I wasn't there,

And many of them didn't care,

They know it tore my heart out,

It was the plan they brought about.

I wanted their day to beautiful,

Even if it was wet rainy and cool,

No fights arguments or cold stare,

Heavey weight my shoulders now bare.

As I sit here waiting with out fail,

For the three words "you got mail",

While my hands are shakin',

Waiting for pictures that were taken.

Something falling from my eyes,

Down my cheek in much surprise,

they are wet cold and free,

Just salty tears in my coffee.

To my son, Matthew and his new wife Faith, with all my love.
