This Salvation Army store is filled with many items a person may be looking for. When I first came through the doors I noticed that they had a large assortment of clothing. They carry Mens, Ladies, Children and seasonal wear such as coats, hang bags and shoes.
They have a section down stairs that has many antiques if that's what you are looking for. They carry depression glass ware as well as old pictures and figurines. They also have a very large section of books and magazines as well as lamps, lanterns and decorations for different holidays.
After selecting a few things down stairs I noticed a sign that pointed up some stairs. I followed many people going up stairs and found that I really enjoyed the up stairs selection allot more than down stairs because they have allot more items available.
I picked the farthest aisle and began there. I grabbed a basket and began filling it with much needed items for my new home. They carry coffee cups, glasses, plates, pots and pans and any kitchen gadget you may need. They had beautiful pictures and some very old cross stitch items as well.
I found they do carry furniture there but you may want to check in weekly with them and see what new comes in. They had beds and couches and chairs as well as lamps up stairs and beautiful wall shelves that I selected. They have a large selection of dried flower arrangements too.
They have a large selection of kid's toys if you are looking for puzzles or stuffed animals or baby dolls and other boy items. They also have DVD movies as well as VHS movies. I found a large selection of figurines for the home as well as silver ware.
my best find was right after Christmas I went in and all of their Christmas decoration's were free. I selected a whole bag full and came home and stored them in a box awaiting Christmas. Any time a Season is over they do this as well as mark down all their clothing for that Season ending.
They carry art supplies as well as sewing materials and a large collection of cloth materials. I selected a beautiful collection of Christmas colors of cloth and made home made gifts with them. They have allot of items in this area so just dig around and your sure to find an item you can use.
I found the store to be very well organized and well staffed. The staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. They will give you a card that may be used each time you shop with them they punch it and it can be later used for a certain percentage off your items.
I once was there shopping and found a gorgeous electric organ for sale. Their prices are very reasonable and what better way to shop if it's raining or cold outside? I enjoy shopping at The Salvation Army Store in The Dalles. They carry so much stuff and as some of you may know that's familiar with Thrift stores items, they can change daily.
This store is easy to locate if you are traveling through The Dalles then you'll find their location at 623 E 3rd in The Dalles, Oregon 97058 or you may wish to contact them for their hours of operation at 541-296-3341. I highly recommend you visit this store as soon as your in the area for all of your crafting or household needs.
