Don't let the high class atmosphere fool you, you sure do not need a suit and a tie to enjoy a great meal at Sam & Harry's Steakhouse. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, they have it all!
For their breakfast menu, you can grab one of the normal breakfast staples for around $12, or you can toss in a few extra bucks and for eighteen dollars you can dive into their breakfast buffet. Completely made to order eggs, omelettes, waffles, bacon, hash browns, grits, sausage, plus your choice of all you can eat fruit, Danishes, yogurts, cheeses, cereals, and much more. It may sound a little steep in price for a breakfast buffet; however it is worth every penny.
When you get to the lunch menu is where I start to feel a little shaky on dining at Sam & Harry's. Their lunch appetizer list has the normal higher class list of calamari, oysters, crab, and shrimp options for under $14. If you're looking for a healthy lunch, they have a great selection of generous chicken, shrimp, salmon, beef, or nut salads under $16. The lunch sandwich choices are the way to go. For $11 you can get a cup of soup and half of a sandwich, which is perfect for a light and filling lunch. I had tried the chicken sandwich and homemade chicken noodle soup. The sandwich was a bit bland; however the soup was the best chicken noodle soup I have ever tasted.
The secondary choice would be Sam & Harry's Angus Burger. For only $10 this char grilled black angus burger is topped high with gorgonzola, gruyere, or Vermont white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a mound of huge fries. Simply delicious!
If you're not in the mood for a light lunch or a burger, the other item I had tried was the crab sandwich. The lump of crab meat on a roll with lettuce and tomato wasn't worth the $14 I had paid for it. The crab was delicious, don't get me wrong, however the portion size was as if you were feeding a mouse.
Because Sam & Harry's is a Steakhouse...you almost have to order steak for dinner! Steak prices go from $20 to $45 and it's worth every penny! They have everything from filet mignon to rib eye to several varieties of strip steak. But be careful! You're only paying for the steak; sides are around $6 each and enough to feed a small family. I tried the cheapest steak on the menu and it was tender, juicy, and delicious! They specify your desired cooking temperature; how you would like the steak prepared, and when it comes out, they have you cut it to see if it is cooked to your liking. I asked for mine prepared well done, however when it came out it was still quite red in the middle. After waiting quite some time for my meal, I was too hungry to care. I cut out the small partially cooked center and ate the well done surroundings. Even though it wasn't thoroughly cooked to what I had asked, it was worth the $20.
Sam & Harry's gives you a wonderful dining experience with friendly staff, high energy atmosphere, and a variety of choices. I highly suggest visiting Sam & Harry's Steakhouse if you are staying in the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL. However, I do not suggest dining there every meal during your entire stay at the hotel; your bank account will surely feel it!
