Samantha Geimer pictures are in demand. The arrest of critically acclaimed director Roman Polanski over the weekend for the 1977 forced sodomy rape of 13-year-old Samantha Geimer has many on the internet searching for the now 45-year-old's pictures. In fact, "Samantha Geimer pictures" have been a hot topic for the past few days as people either immerse themselves in the story of the Roman Polanski scandal or update what they already know about it. But if one had been paying attention to television, Samantha Geimer has granted a few interviews, including one with CNN's Larry King, and a search for pictures would be unnecessary. Of course, many are looking for the comparison pictures, the Samantha Geimer "then and now" pictures, which aren't too difficult to find.

Roman Polanski, director of such films as "Chinatown," "Rosemary's Baby," and "The Pianist," was picked up by Swiss authorities at the Zurich Airport Saturday as he was entering Switzerland on his way to the Zurich Film Festival. The Zurich Film Festival was honoring him for lifetime achievement. .

Samantha Geimer has changed considerably, as one can imagine, in the intervening years. She was fourteen years old when Roman Polanski left for France and never returned to the United States to finish his plea bargain deal he made with the Los Angeles County District Court for admitting to the drugged rape. He completed nearly half of the 90 days (42 days) at Chino State Prison in California but after completing work on a documentary, left for Europe. He said that being held behind bars reminded him of his time in Auschwitz during World War II and he could not endure it.

By fleeing to France, where he maintained citizenship, and not returning (he was allowed to leave the country upon promise of return, according to his plea deal), he violated his agreement with the court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The warrant has been outstanding since 1978.

Samantha Geimer stated in a 2008 interview with First Post that she thinks Roman Polanski should be forgiven. In February 2009, she filed a motion to have the case dismissed on the grounds that the pursuit of Polanski had caused undue hardship on herself and her family over the years.

It is still uncertain whether or not Swiss authorities will actually extradite the 76-year-old director. France, where the Polish-born director lived for the past 30 years, retains the right to extradite their own citizens and had refused to extradite Polanski over the years. U. S. authorities worked closely with other national legal officials to extradite the director if he traveled to their countries, in effect making Polanski a prisoner inside of France.
