Samsung BDP1500 Blu-Ray DVD Player Review

Many people that have been looking for high definition content have been hesitant because they did not want to purchase an expensive Blu-Ray player since they feel like they do not need it. May people were also skeptical about the success of the Blu-Ray since the Playstation 3 sales were initially very slow to get off the ground floor. However, HD DVDs were the competing high definition format for anyone looking for a great movie watching experience and HD DVDs are no longer being made. This means that anyone looking for a high quality movie experience will now be forced to purchase a Blu-Ray player and I was initially hesitant because of the high price tag. However, I have found a great Blu-Ray player that is inexpensive and simple to use.

The Samsung BDP1500 retails for $400 and I purchased the Blu-Ray player from my local Best Buy for $433.50 after tax. What I liked about the device is the slick black finish and compact design because it looks a lot like my Playstation 3 and fits into my entertainment system easily since it is simple and about 7 inches wide. There is no audio output here so you will need an HDTV but what I love most about this device is the image quality when playing Blu-Ray discs is fantastic. The image is very clear and every detail is sharp and easily visible. I have been able to get 100% image visibility and this is a major positive of the Samsung BDP1500 while I would only get 80% image quality from my Playstation 3 console. However, the image quality of the Samsung BDP1500 does suffer a bit and I find that most of my DVDs look grainy in image quality and you can see pixels. For this reason I would say the Samsung BDP1500 is great for someone looking for a nice Blu-Ray player with great image quality but you shouldn't use it as a DVD player because they don't work well and sometimes freeze during the movie. The Samsung BDP1500 also doesn't play features on any disc that require access to the Internet but the Playstation 3 does have this feature. The Samsung BDP1500 is a budget friendly Blu-Ray player that is function and works well when playing Blu-Ray movies at an inexpensive price. However, I prefer the Playstation because it costs the same and works with DVD and Blu-Ray discs in addition to Internet content.This review is based on personal use of the Blu-Ray player, but you can find more information on this device here.
