Over the past few years, cell phones have evolved from simple innovations of their landline cousins to complete communication systems offer more functions than a standard telephone. Smartphones offer uses the ability to run various applications, like Windows Mobile, Blackberry, Palm OS, as well as allow users to maintain address books, access the Internet, and send text messages. Other than standard features including calculators, smartphones can allow you to draft and review documents, transmit videos and manage photo galleries. Because Samsung is such a trusted name, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Portal are among the most desirable smartphones all over the world.
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S smartphone has a 480x 800 pixels 4" long display screen that has Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. Its display comes with some additional features, which are Touch-sensitive controls, Swype text input, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate and Multi-touch input method.
The phone has an auto focus inbuilt phone that allows for Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection. Depending on your version, the camera has up to 16 GB of storage capacity with with 512 MB RAM and 2GB ROM. Extra card slot or an external memory up to 32 GB can be installed.
With all its bells and whistles, the Galaxy S comes only in black or grey. The Galaxy S is ideal for viewing video and photos. In the future, this smartphone could be used to view full length movies, television shows, e-books and magazines.
Samsung Galaxy Portal
Samsung Galaxy Portal is Samsung's response to its less than stellar attempt with its first Android phone the i7500. The Samsung Galaxy Portal is a sturdy Android phone which has a 320 x 480 pixels traditional LCD display screen. It has a TFT capacitive touch screen which has a 3.2 long display screen. The Portal has an internal storage capacity of 180 MB, and operates on an Android OS v1.5 (Cupcake)/ v2.1 (Eclair).
Also with an inbuilt camera, resolution is 2048×1536 pixels along with an autofocus. Available only in black or white. It offers the ability to store information, surf the web, and listen to music. While some have complained about software and durability issues with this smartphone, others have given it high marks.
Whether you get a Samsung Galaxy S or a Samsung Galaxy Portal, you will be getting one of the most sought out and most novel smart phones in the market. While the price may be limiting for some, the various applications and innovations make it an ultimate communications device.
