Samsung Rant for Sprint

Cute, Stylish, and Functional

Theresa O'Keefe
I recently upgraded to the Samsung Rant. I do a lot of texting, probably over a thousand texts per month sometimes, so I wanted a phone that offered a full qwerty keyboard. I've heard a lot about the IPhone, but had no desire to leave Sprint. Ultimately I choose to upgrade to the Rant.

I have to admit another reason for choosing the Rant was its color. It's a deep purple, almost metallic looking, and purple is one of my favorite colors. However, color was not my main reason for choosing this phone. The phone had all the features I wanted and needed:

Full qwerty keyboard that slides out

2 megapixel camera and camcorder

Storage for 1200 phone numbers

Talk time is nearly 6 hours when the battery is fully charged

MP3 Player

GPS capabilities

Relatively compact. It only measures about 4 ½" tall and 2" wide

Preloaded with 72 different ring tones

It's Bluetooth ready

Calendar

Alarm (3 different ones and snooze feature)

Clock

World Time

Calculator

Notepad

Email and Instant Messaging

T9 (predictive speech)

Call history for outing calls, incoming calls and missed calls

Alert history for text messages and emails

I personally love everything about the Rant. Texting was so cumbersome on my previous cell phone, but not anymore. The keys on the keyboard have a rubber feel to them, so it's very easy to type out messages with very few errors.

If you want to watch TV or premium movies on your phone, the Rant is equipped with EV-DO. EV-DO will let you access Sprint's Power Vision. This is how you can access TV, movies, music and more on the Sprint network.

The built in camera has multiple settings. You can adjust the brightness, the resolution, and quality settings. Plus you can choose from five different color tones. There's monochrome, negative, sepia, green, aqua, and none at all. There's even a timer you can set have the picture taken 5 or 10 seconds after you set up the picture.

There's really nothing I can find to complain about when it comes to describing the features of this phone. The only complaint, and it's more a disappointment than an outright complaint is that you cannot play music from Pandora on this phone. Pandora is a free music service that's online at Pandora.com. Pandora has an application that can be downloaded to several other cell phones, but the Rant isn't one of those phones.

I should be upset with the salesperson rather than Samsung. Back when I was shopping for phones, I specifically asked the salesperson if Pandora would work on the Rant and I was told it would. However, I couldn't make it work. I finally contacted Pandora directly and was informed that Rant is incompatible for their service at this time.

Other than that one minor complaint, there's nothing else I can find to complain about. This phone has everything a person could want in relation to storage and ease of use.
