Samsung UN40B7000 40" LED HDTV Reveiw
With Breakthrough Picture Quality and Slim Cabinet Design, Samsung Introduces the Latest HDTV Technology.
With HDTV's becoming a standard fixture in American homes, and the cost of this technology reaching more household budgets, the Samsung un40b7000 40" LED TV may be a good fit for your home entertainment needs.
This article will explore some of the highlights of the latest HDTV technology Samsung has brought to the market.
First and foremost, this 40" Samsung set is very attractive to the eyes. The frame is piano black with an amber color tone, that Samsung calls "a touch of color". The stand is square and matches the glossy piano black finish of the frame, and has a crystal clear neck that really sets it off. Because the TV is only 1.2" in width, it can be mounted to the wall just like a picture frame. An optional wall mount is required that will set you back another $200. This TV will look good either way!
Naturally nobody (at least most of us) buys an HDTV solely for it's looks. The picture quality and overall features have more to do with it for most of us. You'll be happy to know the Samsung un40b7000 does not disappoint when it comes to picture quality, and is packed with extra features that will blow you away.
The picture quality is phenomenal. This set boasts an incredible 3,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio with auto motion 120Hz technology, that all but guarantees you won't notice any pixel blur while watching sports or fast action movies. And pair it with a blue-ray DVD movie, it will blow you away! The first time I watched my new Samsung LED TV, I remember thinking that the people looked as close to 3-D as I'd ever seen on any TV. Even with regular HDTV programming (not blue-ray) the picture is that good. I personally own 2 other HDTV's, one LCD and one plasma set. And although both have a really good picture, I can tell you without a doubt this Samsung LED Tv is the best one I've ever had!
As far as features go, there are several really neat things this TV can do as well. The Samsung un40b7000 can be connected directly to the internet. Although it's not full blown internet access, there are several different widgets you can download to your TV. Once you connect your TV to the internet (router to TV via standard cat 5 cable), simply access the internet via the remote control and go to the widget gallery. Once there you can choose from Ebay, Rallycast (track your fantasy teams), Twitter, Flickr, You Tube, Yahoo Weather, Finance, News, Video or USA Today Sports. These are just the current available widgets. More are scheduled to be added. Blockbuster On-Demand and Amazon Video On-Demand are upcoming soon! The Samsung LED TVs have the ability to be updated in the future, so no more "become obsolete by the time you get it home". Your Samsung TV will automatically notify you when a software or firmware upgrade becomes available. A nice feature in it's own right!
And Of-course you can connect your computer via (4 x hdmi, 2 usb, or even a vga connection), or your A/V receiver, DVD, or even gaming system etc.. If you do connect your PC you can watch videos, play music, or even view your picture library. You'll find this TV is well equipped for the future.
And if that's not enough, the Samsung LED TV series are all Eco-friendly as well. According to Samsung, the LED models use 40% less power than conventional TV's, and are mercury free! So those of you with environmental concerns, rest assured all those extra features and picture quality won't come at a price to the planet.
Not that this set needs to be more convenient, but it even comes with 2 remote controls. The main unit is a more conventional learning type remote, that can be programmed to work with DVD players, HDTV boxes etc.. The other remote is kinda neat. It's a smaller pebble shaped remote that controls the basics, like volume settings, channel settings, and power off or on. Not like you wouldn't live without it, but it is kinda cute!
The Samsung un40b7000 HDTV is a fabulous TV with no real drawbacks. However nobody is perfect, not even Samsung! These LED Tv's are not the cheapest HDTV's out there. You can expect to pay 20 to 30% more than an average LCD TV of the same size. Is the increased price worth it? Well that depends on the individual, but if you ask me (I own this TV), it most certainly is. Even if you never hook up your computer, connect to the internet, or use any of those many gadgets, the picture quality on this TV is second to none. It's as close to 3-D as I've ever experienced!
If you are getting ready to purchase an HDTV soon, take the time to compare one of the Samsung LED sets side by side with a regular LCD TV and see for yourself. I'm sure you will agree, this is one impressive television!
