Samsung Unveils Omnia II, Omnia LITE (B7300), OmniaPRO B7320, OmniaPRO B7610

Samsung Launches New Generation of Omnia SmartPhones at Samsung Unpacked

Bob Smith
Samsung has released details on a whole host of brand new models of phone at its yearly Samsung Unpacked event - The Omnia II, OmniaLITE, OmniaPRO B7610 and OmniaPRO B7320. Each has been quite clearly designed to fill a need. Can you work out which is to take on the iPhone, Blackberry, Sidekick and "generic budget phone"?

Although details have been released it is still unclear when we will have access to them.

Samsung OmniaPRO B7610

The OmniaPRO B7610 is a gorgeous looking windows phone that features a slideable QUERTY keyboard (just like a sidekick) and AM-OLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) touchscreen. This 800x480 pixel screen promises to display brighter and more vibrant colours.

It will also include a very commendable 5-Megapixel camera and GPS.

It will be based on the windows platform with full Microsoft software to allow support for push email and office support as well as Opera Mobile 9.5

The OmniaPRO B7610 will feature HSDPA and Wi-Fi connections guaranteeing high speed internet access.

Samsung OmniaPRO B7320

Unlike its brother above the B7320 will be much more blackberry like in shape, hence, we expect it to be more targeted at the business user.

It is unclear right now what operating system the B7320 will use however we have our suspicions that it will be windows based.

The B7320 will feature a 3-Megapixel camera, a little dated.

It will include features such as corporate push email, mobile access to social networking sites and instant messaging services.

As with its brother above it will also feature Wi-Fi and HDSPA connectivity although with this model you also gain an FM radio.

Samsung Omnia II

Originally thought to be called the Omnia2, it is the successor to the Omnia phone and Samsung's head on take on the iPhone.

The Omnia II also features a 3.7inch AM-OLED screen for clearer, more vibrant display.

A faster 800 MHz CPU, 5 Mega-pixel camera with face detection, geo-tagging and photo editor.
It will also include A-GPS with Navigation software.

As with the other phones we expect mobile browsing to come in the form of Opera with HDSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Samsung OmniaLITE B7300

Details on the OmniaLITE are a little thin. We expect it to be slightly more lightweight on features and possibly price.
It will make use Samsung's own TouchWiz 2.0 GUI - A widget based interface.

As with the B7320 we are also given a 3-Megapixel camera here however unlike that we will also receive A-GPS.

The OmniaLITE will give you the business features you need with a pre-installed Office Suite and full corporate push email features.

The OmniaLITE will also include HDSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity

They should all hopefully be available later this year
