Hair, makeup, and special effects are huge in the movie industry. Without these three elements, your favorite stars probably couldn't pull off half of the movie roles they've signed on to play. Samuel L. Jackson happens to be one of those actors who enjoy donning crazy costumes (namely, wigs and toupees) to perfect his characters. Oh yes, some pretty memorable hairpieces mark Mr. Jackson's illustrious acting career. Sam claims to really enjoy wearing "unusual wigs" in his films; and it's claimed that he even gets to pick them out himself. See if you can recall these ten wild hairstyles.

Movie: "Jumper" (2008)
Hairpiece Style: Platinum Dreams

Jackson showed off a neatly clipped, stark white hair cut in this sci-fi action thriller. As Roland Cox, his destiny was to kill "Jumpers"-people with teleportation abilities. Unfortunately, Cox couldn't keep his haircut from jumping into the future ahead of his (dark colored) beard.

Movie: "Black Snake Moan" (2007)
Hairpiece Style: The Grady

Jackson channeled his inner Grady (of Sanford & Son) for this intense role. Sam underwent some serious blues guitar lessons for the role of Lazarus Woods. But his biggest feat perhaps was pulling off this grandfatherly look.

Movie: "Deep Blue Sea" (1999)
Hairpiece Style: The Nautical Professor

In "Deep Blue Sea", Sam J.'s character is sent to an aquatic facility to approve shark brain research. But not even his conservative coif could save Sam from being devoured by a super-smart shark.

Movie: "Jackie Brown" (1997)
Hairpiece Style: The Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful

See Ordell. See Ordell Robbie's silky brown perm blowing in the wind. Enough said.

Movie: "Eve's Bayou" (1997)
Hairpiece Style: The Dr. Feelgood

Maybe it was those soft Creole waves. Or perhaps it was that sexy widow's peak. In any case, the ladies of "Eve's Bayou" simply couldn't get enough of the Good Doctor Louis Batiste. Too bad he couldn't cure that flimsy Louisiana accent.

Movie: "Unbreakable" (2000)
Hairpiece Style: The Gangsta Lean

Samuel Jackson portrayed an afflicted anti-hero in M. Night Shyamalan's eerie thriller. But it was difficult to tell what was more challenging: getting Elijah out of his wheelchair, or getting his Afro to stand up straight.

Movie: "Pulp Fiction" (1994)
Hairpiece Style: That Curl

That curl--oh that curl! It's been said that Samuel Jackson was originally set to wear an Afro wig for the role of Jules Winnfield. But aren't we glad he and Quentin Tarantino chose this greasy little gem of a hairstyle instead. Do you know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France...?

Movie: "The Caveman's Valentine" (2001)
Hairpiece Style: The Dirty Rasta

Romulus Ledbetter was a former Juilliard student now living in a New York City cave. He attempts to solve a murder, reunite with his daughter, save the world from evil, all the while temporarily re-entering the classical music world. It's hard to tell what was more twisted: the awkward plot or Samuel Jackson's 43 lb. faux dreadlocks. (Honorable Hairdo Mention: "Resurrecting the Champ")

Movie: "Formula 51: The 51st State" (2002)
Hairpiece Style: Lee Press-On Cornrows

In "Formula 51", Elmo McElroy has invented a secret hallucinogenic wonder drug. But the real secret is that "Formula 51" is the adhesive used to keep those chunky fake cornrows from sliding off Sam's head.

Movie: "Soul Men" (2008)
Hairpiece Style: The Rico Suave

In this bittersweet comedy, the foul-mouthed singing sensation donned ratty braids, a silky texturizer, a mile-high Afro, and about two or three other wayward looks-winning him the Academy Award for Most Hairstyles In One Film.
