The first time I tried Sushi was in the 90's at a local sushi place in Richmond, Virginia. The look of uncooked fish of any kind just wasn't appetizing to me. That was until I tasted my first eel and feel in love with Sushi. It didn't look great, but it was so good.
My taste for Sushi has grown a bit to some of the fancier dishes that now include cooked sushi with all kinds of exotic sauces that are drizzled on top. I also love the grilled rice that most sushi places offer. I don't think I've had regular fried rice in a while, because the grilled is just so much better. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think it's healthier because of how it's prepared, but it is oh so good!
I had seen the Samurai Blue Japanese Grill many times on the run, but had never taken the time to stop in, so I thought it was time to check this place out. The first time I decided to check it out, I had Sushi to go and took it with me, however, I didn't eat it right away because I was busy and when I did get a chance, it didn't go down as well as I'd like, so I thought, "wow, big mistake.
I was really surprised that I got sick from the sushi because I had such high expectations, however, I always believe in second chances, so it wasn't until recently that a friend and I checked it out and this time we ate inside and I found the décor to be very pleasing with touches of authentic Japanese art and statues. The service was wonderful and this time the food was great. I tried a California roll and Shrimp Tempura and it was very nice and cooked perfectly.
The prices were reasonable and range from $5.00 to around $20.00, so families would not only enjoy the food, but the savings. Samurai Blue Japanese Grill is located at 2000 Riverside Parkway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30043. Give them a call today 678-518-4216 for reservations or to book your next birthday or rehearsal dinner.

Post a CommentThat particular restaurant location has been home to many different cuisines over the years that I've lived in Lawrenceville and much like you I tend to zoom right by that spot. I love Sushi (mostly Nigiri) and by your suggestion I will have to slow down and sample the wares. Honestly I find that the Sushi made within the Lawrenceville Krogers on Sugarloaf Parkway to be very good. They make quite a variety and the price is lunch budget friendly! The Sushi Chefs who prepare the assortments are from a local Restaurant and I feel that it makes a difference in the quality, presentation and taste. Much better than a couple of higher priced "established" restaurants I've visited.
