San Antonio is home to a plethora of malls and shops. Some of the most popular malls are The Riverside Mall, Alamo Quarry Market and The Crossroads Mall. North Star Mall has the famous sculpture of the cowboy boots, which are supposedly the tallest in the world. Specialized stores catering to the varied needs of shoppers can be found in the malls. Some of the most sought after stores are Bridal shops, Candy shops, Christmas Shops, Jewellery Shops and Pet Shops. It is extremely difficult to wade through San Antonio shopping if you have not categorized yourself. Before visiting the shops, make sure you know what you are looking for. Once you have that information ready you may start by finding out where the specialty stores are and then start shopping.
August and September have some advantage over the other months in terms of shopping. August has the annual tax holiday from the state and local taxes. Known popularly as the "Texas Tax free Weekend", it was recently moved from the beginning of august to the third weekend in the same month. The tax holiday is a boon for back to school shopping since it coincides with the start of the school year. Also beginning in 2008, the Memorial Day weekend has also been declared a tax free holiday. During this time electronics are also covered. September has many art and cultural events like the European Film festival and the Jazz Festival. Since a lot of tourists visit specifically for cultural events, the malls try to lure in more customers by offering huge discounts during this time.
There is something for everyone in San Antonio. Whether you are a soon to be bride looking for that bridal costume or a parent looking for deals for school going children, you can find everything you need right here. And what's more, it all comes at a huge discount. And you can enjoy your holiday at the same time. One of the rare occurrences where modern shopping malls exist hand in hand with heritage sites, San Antonio is an unique experience. So if you are looking for a holiday which is helps save as well, San Antonio is the place to go. And like true Texan culture, everything is big! Big Malls, big choices and bigger discounts!!!
