San Antonio, Texas: Five Art Galleries

San Antonio, Texas has a lot to offer when it comnes to art and galleries, in fact the city has a art effervescent community that reflects the history and culture of the area and they offer various festivals, institutions and events, and galleries that both locals and tourists can enjoy besides a visit to the Alamo and a stroll on the Riverwalk or spending a day at Sea World. According to the Enjoy San Antonio website (www.enjoysanantonio.com) there are five galleries that one must see, in the second largest city of the state of Texas.

The first one is the Casa Margarita Gallery which is located at 730 South Alamo and an array of different characteristic handmade pieces from the Mexican and South American cultures and artists, and they also present different works every month from local and regional artists.

Another gallery is the Eclectic Art Gallery and it located at 518 Riverwalk, and it remains closed on Mondays. They are open from Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 A.M to 7:00 P.M, and Sunday from 11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M however they do remain open late on Friday and Saturday. Here you are able to see art from about twenty different artists which expose their original pieces. You can purchase any of the art work such as paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculptures and neon art to name some and the atmosphere in the gallery is relaxed yet eclectic and very artsy.

And then there is also the Gallista Gallery which is located at 1913 South Flores and it is open to the public from Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M or if you wish you can call for an appointment. This gallery is composed by an enclave of artists, galleries and studios all promoting Mexican American and Chicano art.

Then there is the Little Studio Gallery located at 418 Villita number 23, and in this gallery you can experience wonderful original watercolors, oils and acrylics by different artists but also you can see sculpture and unique jewelry designs by other artists as well.

Another one is River Art Group located at 418 Villita number 1400. This gallery is a cooperative of fine art and it opened its doors in 1947 and they represent over three hundred artists and some are recognized world wide. Here you can see watercolors, oils, acrylics, pottery, photographs, pastels, jewelry and also wood carving.
