We have a few dates up already for Cox Arena this year. Avril Lavigne will be coming through in April, supported by Boys Like Girls. In June, The Cure will be finally be swinging by after their tour was delayed last year. The Foo Fighters will also play here in March!
It's a busy year for our House of Blues venue downtown! Skid Row will be playing on the 10th. Social Distortion will be playing at The House of Blues not once, but twice in January! The Bravery will also be doing a show at the end of January! Velvet Revolver will be coming through in February, as will Hot Hot Heat. Marilyn Manson and Wyclef Jean will also be here in February (obviously not together though). Bad Religion will be doing a March show. If you are an 80's fan, March 30th is the day for you! There will be a show with 80's cover bands, and A Flock of Seagulls will be performing. Big Head Todd and the Monsters (remember them?) and Ministry will also be playing The House of Blues this year.
Soma also has a busy year! Finch will be there in January, supported by Sound the Alarm and Tera Melos. The Black Dahlia Murder will also be playing there in January. Cobra Starship will be playing in February. March has a huge show on the 13th with Angels and Airwaves, Meg and Dia, Ace Enders, and The Color Fred (the project of the recently departed member of Taking Back Sunday).
A random, but great show, is The Blue Man Group will be at the San Diego Sports Arena in the beginning of January, and tickets are still available! The Wallflowers will be playing in The Dreamcatcher Lounge in Viejas Casino on February 9th! They will also be playing February 10th at Pala Casino. It's a great chance to catch this band in an intimate setting! Siouxsie and the Banshees are playing 4th and B on February 21st. The Presidents of the United States of America will be at The Belly Up on March 22nd. George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic will also be at The Belly Up on Valentine's Day.
That should cover the first half of your year musically! I will post a new article later in the year with more concert updates, and hopefully a Coachella review! Happy New Year!
