San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon 2009
Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Promises a Scenic Course for Runners and Great Fun for the Whole Family
For the 12th Rock 'N' Roll Marathon race day the Wheelchair Invitational starts at 6:25 a.m. and the Marathon begins at 6:30 a.m. You can expect the average temperature to be sixty degrees at the start of the race and about seventy degrees at the finish line.
The Rock 'N' Roll Marathon events include forty five live bands, over two thousand cheerleaders to keep you running, and nineteen aid stations to support the walkers and runners. The Rock 'N' Roll Marathon begins in Balboa Park and winds through Hillcrest and past the San Diego Zoo. As the runners make their way through downtown they will see Petro Park, the Gaslamp Quarter and past the San Diego Harbor.
If you decide to take the downtown route for the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon then you will run along scenic Highway 163 and the Bayside Communities, Sea World and then on to the finish line at the Marine Corps Recruit Deport in Point Luma.
As you are making your way mile after mile in the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon, you can expect to see forty cheerleader squads, nineteen water stations, twenty six stages with bands and twenty medical tents. And be on the lookout for the running band of Elvis's, that's right over one hundred and sixty Elvis's are expected this year for the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon.
If you are planning to be a spectator for the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon then you should plan to park at the Airport Authority parking lot and take the shuttle to the finish line at the Marine Corp Recruit Deport. Allow plenty of time to park, get on the shuttle and get through security to arrive at the finish line by 10:00 a.m. PT to cheer on the runners.
After the race is the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Finish Line Festival which will feature live music, lots of great food and a complimentary beer for all runners. In order to be able to meet up with your friends and family there are designated areas, marked off A-Z, to help all of you in finding each other and then just enjoying the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon celebration together.
As an extra note, be sure to check out the Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Health & Fitness Expo that is being held May 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday the 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Post a CommentJoshua: Good luck tgo you too and I hope you have a great race. I am horribly embarrassed that I mis-spelled items. I have gone back and checked and the only location I found I mis-spelled was "Depot", and I typed it "Deport". This is not an article taht I can edit, but I will send an email to AC and request an udpate. Thank you for letting me know.
Hi, I just read your post and I think that it's great that you are running in the 12th Annual San Diego, Rock and Roll marathon as am I. I just wanted to let you know to just do a little more research on the spelling of almost all the places you mentioned in the blog; almost every landmark that you mentioned about San Diego was spelled incorrectly. Just something to keep in mind for your next blog, good luck on the marathon! :)
I'm running this race this year, and am really excited to run through San Diego. I can't wait to hear what you think about how the race goes for you.
Wow, lucky you to be in that area. Hope you get to go.
