The Del Mar Fairground's Holiday of Lights is once again making its grand appearance for all to enjoy. So what exactly makes this display so unique to San Diego? Well how about the fact that drivers follow a 1.5 mile road all the while enjoying an astonishing number of 400 displays that are not only lighted of course but animated as well! These light displays follow various themes such as the Twelve Days of Christmas, Candy Cane Lane, Elves At Play, San Diego County Fair as well as Toyland!
San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park Festival of Lights
Location: San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park, 15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, 92027
Date: December 7-23 and 26-30
Time: 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Price: $22.00 (3 to 11) and $33.00 (12 and up)
The San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park are getting into the Christmas spirit this season!
If you love animals then you are in for a real treat! They promise no less than 100,000 lights as well as toy soldiers that are at least 6 feet high, a massive train of 52 feet that is lighted of course, a frog tree, horse with a buggy and a gingerbread man. Want to see these spectacular displays from the sky? Then take a ride in their Balloon Safari. Cost is $15.00 and for members it is $12.00.
San Diego Bay's Parade of Lights
Location: Shelter Island, Harbor Island, The Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Ferry Landing on Coronado
Date: December 9 and 16
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The 36th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is pulling out all the stops this year
as usual. A large number of boats are decorated with absolutely beautiful light displays that make their way around the bay for all to revel in. The best spots for viewing this parade if you happen to be on land is at the Embarcadero at both the north and south side. For anyone in a boat, try to be near the 10th Street Terminal. The entire parade will be anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. Below is the route of the parade.
Shelter Island - 5:30 p.m.
Harbor Island - 6:00 p.m.
The Embarcadero - 6:30 p.m.
Seaport Village - 7:00 p.m.
Coronado Ferry Landing - 7:30 p.m.
