San Francisco's Limon Restaurant Relocates

Limon, a popular Valencia Street Peruvian restaurant, has moved and it seems that the menu and ambiance have not gone with it.

I do love the restaurant, so I was anxious to check out its new location. I have a few complaints though. The new venue is operating out of only one quarter the size it used to occupy.

The place was packed Sunday night, indicating that it still is on the favorite list of at least 30 hip diners. Seating was uncomfortably tight too. The diners in the table next to mine were sitting a little less than a foot away from my mini table for two.

Not just the square footage was reduced, but so was the menu. To my dissatisfaction, all the entrees have been removed from the selection. It's strictly a tapas style experience now.

The small hot and cold plates offered, however, do live up to Limon's reputation of being one of San Francisco's best Latin eateries. Their renowned Limon style Ceviche Mixta is a must try. Its mix of fresh veggies, halibut, prawns and calamari has a mouthwatering lemony bite.

Now, I did end up leaving satisfied. Great food, fast service, great prices - same end result. The new location is on the 33rd block of 17th.
