The New Look of Mineta International Airport and the New Conveniences for Passenger Pick-up

For years residents and travelers in San Jose, California have suffered from the construction and confusion of the San Jose International Airport. Mineta San Jose International Airport is almost fininshed. Crews are putting on some of the final aesthetic touches as they gear up for the finish line on this $1.3 billion dollar project.

What is new at the San Jose International Airport?
Mineta San José International Airport is changing terminals.

Terminal A now serves the following airlines: American, Continental, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Mexicana, United, US Airways and Volaris.

Terminal B now serves Alaska/Horizon, Delta and Southwest.

More changes to the San Jose International Airport for passengers and guests.
The airport also has updated security systems. They have expanded the number of security checkpoints, expecting faster service for passengers. The airport also offers more new shopping and food options throughout the entire airport. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the airport.

As of October, a new coffee shop is now available in baggage claim for guests who wish to purchase a meal prior to boarding. This area is open to anyone, including non-ticketed guests waiting for their party to arrive.

There is an expanded waiting area for pre-boarding and passenger pick-up. Now, rather than meeting in the breezeway on the third floor, there is a large waiting area in Terminal A with comfortable seating, beverages, snacks and reading material available for purchase. There is a similar set-up in the new Terminal B.

Terminal B offers a historical look at the Silicon Valley, with a similar addition being added at this time to Terminal A.

Rental cars and parking change at San Jose International.
Rental Cars are now in their new permanent location directly across from Terminal B, a short distance for Terminal A travelers. In addition to the new rental car center, 700 short-term public parking spaces for Terminal B have been added on the first floor of the garage, along with the connected surface lot. Short-term parking for Terminal A remains the same as before, as does access to long-term parking.

Rental car companies include:
Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, National and Thrifty.

For Mexicana Airlines passengers: "Mexicana Airlines has suspended all its flights effective at 12 noon, Aug. 28 until further notice. The Mexicana ticket counter in Terminal A will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. Please contact Mexicana at 1-800-531-792 1," according to Mineta San Jose International official statement.
