Sand Art Project to Do with Your Children

Sand Art is an easy project that you can do with your children. It can be a project that you do together to make a picture of sand. Making a picture with sand can be very messy so it is a good project to do in a spot that is ok to get a little messy. Or you can take precautions to kept he mess contained such as in a box or on a large piece of paper or fabric. Newspaper works well for a spot to work on. Newspaper can be spread on the floor to catch all the sand that drops. It is good to do this project on a piece of newspaper right on the floor. Kids like to work on the floor. If you are working with a very small child make sure they don't put the sand in there mouth or eyes.

You will need sand, paper and white glue for this project. You can buy sand of different colors at an art and craft store. Or you can get sand in natural colors from a beach or anywhere else you find sand. Sand can make beautiful pictures.

You can make your sand picture any size you want it to bee it all depends on the size of the paper you use. It is better to use paper that is stiff and thick a piece of cardboard will also work.

First decided what it is you want to make a picture of? Maybe a horse or a tree or what ever you want to make. Then take the glue and pour it on the paper. You can use your finger to make the glue into the shape you want to make in the picture. Or you can use a glue stick and draw the shape you want. Then take the sand and pour it right on the glue that you have on the paper. You can shake the paper in order to get the sand to cover the glue. When you have the glue sufficiently covered you can tip the paper so the excess sand drops on the newspaper you have down to catch the mess. If you want you can let the picture dry before you put on another color of sand. You will then have a picture made with sand. You can make sand cards for people to give to them. You can get creative as you want.

Making sand pictures can be a good way to spend time with your kids. Most kids like to play with sand and show how creative they can be.
