Sandals Resort: A Caribbean Paradise

A Review of the Sandals Montegobay Resort and Spa

You Probably have seen the ads on television for Sandals Resorts, bu the ads don't even come close to explaining a getaway to a Sandals Resort. Sandals is an all inclusive resort that will tend to your every need and desire. My husband and I visited the Sandals Resorts in Montego Bay and it really was a magical getaway.

Sandals resorts are all inclusive resorts. What this means is that you pay one amount for all your accommodations, meals, snacks and drinks. When I say drinks I mean all your sodas, juices and alcoholic beverages. They have coffee and teas too, and by the way this might be the best coffee I have ever had. It is called Blue Mountain Coffee and it is a locally grown coffee bean that is really good and rather expensive when you buy it in the States. Oh yeah did I mention that all your alcohol is included.

This is just the beginning of what is included in your stay at a Sandals Resort. You will also not need to tip during your stay since that is also included in your package price. They also include all your water sports like scuba diving and snorkeling. Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay also has games and entertainment going on all day long everyday. The more activities that you participate in the more points that you earn. At the end of your stay your points are added up and you will receive some great gifts that will remind you of your magical stay here in the Caribbean paradise. My husband and I managed to collect over 500 points which won us a t-shirt that was painted by some of the entertainment staff and two sandals necklaces as well as my favorite keepsake two leather sandals key chains. Now every time I start my car or open the front door I get a little flash back of those magical moments in Montego Bay.

Sandals Royal Caribbean in Montego Bay located on the island of Jamaica has a lot to offer there are several restaurant and dining options. There is the main dining restaurant which for breakfast servers a buffet or you can go inside for an a la carte menu, lunch also has a buffet or an a la carte menu. For dinner it is international cuisine which is served with white gloves. They also have a restaurant that is located on their private island which serves Thai cuisine and is only accessible by a boat ride which can be very romantic. There is an American cuisine which is much like a steak house and then they have an other el fresco style dining with local cuisine like goat. Remember all these options are included in your accommodations package. You can also be served a bottle of wine at dinner no charge. Another dining option is the outdoor cafe. Here they serve jerk burgers, fries and chicken fingers from around 11 am until past 2 am. This cafe is also a bar that you can get drinks from well into the night. The pool areas all have swim up bars.

The private island that is home to the Thai cuisine at night, is clothing optional during the day. A seamless tan is available here all day long everyday of your stay. Do beware that the locals love to pass by in their canoes to get a flash of the tourist. The locals are also a little annoying. The resort has an area roped off for swimming this is to keep the locals away. They paddle right up to this rope trying to sell local arts. To my surprise we discovered from the hotel staff that they pack marijuana into their local crafts and that is what they are really trying to sell. The hotel staff does keep guards located on either side of this swim area to try and keep the locals from harassing the guest.

Over all this is a great way to vacation. This is a couples only resort and that can be nice if it is your get away from the kids. The cost is not too bad. Our entire package including airfare was around $3000. This might sound like a lot but consider this there is no need for money at a Sandals Resort. This amount included 7 days and night hotel room accommodations, all meals, snacks and all beverages including alcohol. This amount also included tips and we snorkeled for free everyday sometimes twice a day. If you added the cost for all these things that vacation would cost you much, much more. You can book your Sandals Vacation through a travel agent, Sandals.com or Apple Vacations.com.
