The SanDisk model MP3 player is similar to the 8 GB iPod nano, but there is quite a large price difference currently. A quick price check comparison of the two on Amazon yields around an 85 dollar price difference. The e280 can be purchased for only $114.99, but the iPod is going for $199.00. Although the iPod actually costs more, I would rather have the SanDisk MP3 player. It shares such features with the iPod such as music and video playback, photo viewer, backlit color screen, simple interface, and sleek design with the iPod, but it throws in a few extra features on top of those. The SanDisk Sansa e280 has a built in FM radio, voice recorder, and a microSD slot that gives you the option to expand the memory capacity. You get all those extra features with the SanDisk Sansa e280 that the iPod doesn't have, and the price tag is significantly less. Unless you are a die-hard Apple or iPod fan, the clear winner in this battle of electronics is the SanDisk.
One of the biggest upsides to the SanDisk Sansa e280 MP3 player is its cheap price tag. If money is no option, then either the tried and true iPod or the e280 would be a great choice. The best price I have found for the e280 is by far on Amazon here. At only $115, it really is a great value.
If you want to play it safe, you can purchase a two year replacement plan from Amazon for $21.99 or a one year for $11.99. Personally, I don't ever buy these plans and have never had a problem, but it really isn't a bad idea. If you take care of your electronics, they generally shouldn't have any problems.
