Sandra Bullock to Appear at the MTV Movie Awards?

Sandra Bullock may make an appearance at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, according to E! Online. If Sandra Bullock does show up to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, it would be the first time she's walked the red carpet since Jesse James' Bombshell mistress dropped her bombshell on the tabloids, creating a media explosion and destroying Sandra Bullock's perfect world, which had just been made a little better with an Oscar and a new addition that we knew nothing about. So why would Sandra Bullock choose the 2010 MTV movie awards to make her first public appearance since the scandal, and is it a good move?

Sandra Bullock has multiple 2010 MTV Movie Awards nominations

It would make sense for Sandra Bullock to show up at the MTV Movie Awards, since she's garnered nominations in multiple categories. She's up for Best Kiss with her 'The Proposal' costar Ryan Reynolds, and you know the votes for the duo have to be pouring in as everyone hopes to see Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds duplicate their steamy smooch as a form of in-your-face revenge against her outlaw ex. But I don't think Sandra Bullock would do that to Scarlett, and she's got some tough competition, as other nominees include Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning; Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the two Taylors, and big blue aliens.

Sandra Bullock is also one of the nominees for Best Female Performance for her role in 'The Blind Side', competing against younger starlets like Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Stewart, and Zoe Saldana. Surprisingly, her 'The Proposal' costar Betty White wasn't one of the nominees along with her (smooth movie MTV; you just missed a free Facebook advertising opportunity).

And Sandra Bullock also stands out when it comes to the nominations in another MTV Movie Awards category; she's the only woman nominated for Best Comedic Performance. Fellow nominees here include comedian Ben Stiller, costar Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper (the least funny guy from 'The Hangover'), and Zach Galifianakis (Sandra's toughest competition in the category; too bad she didn't have a beard, dirty T-shirt, and baby Louis to tote around in 'The Proposal').

So will Sandra Bullock sweep all the categories she's got nominations in? Well, keep in mind that most people bothering to vote are of the Twihard fans variety, so it's going to be tough (unless she shows up on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet and producers intervene).

News that Sandra Bullock may rock the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet surfaces shortly after Jesse James interview

Is it a coincidence that news that the Sandra Bullock might show up on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet broke so soon after Jesse James gave an interview on 'Nightline'? It's very likely not, as Jesse James ignoring her pain and going public may have made it a little easier for Sandra Bullock to continue getting over him. In the interview he tries to explain his actions by stating that he was abused as a child. He also said he still loves Sandra; isn't racist; doesn't want to divorce her; and wants to be a part of the life of baby Louis, the son he planned on adopting with her (see a portion of the interview here on TMZ). While he may be trying to save his image, it's likely that Sandra prefers that he keep his mouth shut, and every little thing that he does that makes her life miserable gives her one more good reason to get over him faster and get on with her life.

So is the 2010 MTV Movie Awards red carpet the best place for her first public appearance?

Fortunately Jesse James isn't one of the nominees for Best Villain, so I don't think Sandra Bullock will run into him on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. Instead she'll be surrounded by her Hollywood brethren, which have had nothing but words of support and kindness for Sandra. The MTV Movie Awards is usually a more laid-back, fun affair, so the lack of seriousness makes it an easier place to make her first public appearance (and there's always the chance of something crazy happening that takes the attention off of her momentarily). Of course it won't be easy, but it would be good to see Sandra Bullock start getting her life back to normal.

Could a special award be in store for Sandra Bullock?

Sandra Bullock didn't earn a spot among the nominees in the Global Superstar category, but E! reports that a special award might be in store for her. It could be the MTV equivalent of the lifetime achievement award, which would be a little silly considering how young Sandra Bullock is (and, hello? Betty White!). Regardless of what it is, if she does accept it, it's going to be tough to be put in the spotlight and give a special speech after all she's been through.

But perhaps the best award Sandra Bullock can receive by attending the 2010 MTV Movie Awards is a step toward getting her life back on track and plenty of well wishes from her friends and fans. She may have lost something important in her life, but she's also won a lot of love and respect, and that beats plastic popcorn any day.
