Sandra Bullock "Divorce Off Rumors" Not True - Divorce Still on Says Sandra's Agent

There is No Truth to the Rumor that Sandra Bullock Has Called Off the Divorce!

Rumor quashed by Sandra Bullock's Agent

Tabloid rumors in the National Enquirer that Sandra Bullock has called off or is stalling her divorce from Jesse James are entirely untrue. Sandra's Agent has told E!News. Now that the divorce is "on schedule". There has been no change of heart by Sandra and she is not "stalling" the divorce.

Why tabloids publish rumors

So, why do the tabloids publish such untrue stories?

I've noticed lately that hardly anybody in the limelight is doing anything that warrants a big media blitz. It is possible that some magazines and newspapers struggle for a headline story. The next best thing could be a story that has a rumor about somebody who has been in the news lately. Sandra Bullock is an obvious choice for this type of rumor. A rumor story about any celebrity gets readers in because fans want to know "details" about their lives. It is like viewing a "live soap opera" or knowing somebody has a more exciting life than the one a reader is living.

It is highly unlikely that anyone from the tabloids would know for certainty "how Sandra Bullock feels" about anything - or for that matter, how any celebrity thinks and feels. Yet statements are often made to this effect. Of course Sandra would be overjoyed at having a baby of her own to love and care for. But it doesn't warrant media coverage. It is common knowledge, courtesy of the media, that Sandra has bought a home in New Orleans and intends to bring up adopted baby Louis in that city. It is unlikely that Sandra will make any statements to the media. She is now a single mother bringing up a child and she deserves the privacy she needs to do that effectively.

Sandra has moved on

It is three months since Sandra filed for divorce after discovering her husband had cheated on her with various women of dubious reputation. Despite Jesse James's pleas that he is suffering from sex addiction, Sandra did not hurry back to him. She disappeared off the radar - obviously to grieve over the breakdown of her marriage. She has remained totally dignified despite the spotlight glaring on her and various sources assuming what might be going on in her life.

Divorce in the spotlight

Divorce is a serious and personal matter. Sometimes it is not possible for a well-known person to keep details of why a marriage breakdown is occurring. Sandra Bullock's situation and that of Elin Nordegren Woods gave onlookers a distinct and valid reason why they would opt for divorce. Other celebrities issue statements asking the media to respect their privacy and the reason for their divorces remain in the "that's our business basket". And that is exactly the way it should be.

Rumors are the destructive element of the celebrity publicity machine. I don't agree that celebrities should have to be the subject of media scrutiny for every facet of their lives. They are, after all, just people who happen to work in a publicity hungry industry.

tabloids have always fabricated stories, that is how they make their money. Some stories can actually be believable and that is sad, while others are down right crazy, classical tabloid stories include, alien sitings, elvis sitings, elderly women given birth to triplets and so on. The have always done this and have been sued numerous times by celebrities who have had their reputations tarnished from false information.

Great write up! You're totally right about tabloids publishing half truths and other times complete lies, especially during times lacking a major story and headline that will get a reaction.

Thank you for the update. I feel bad for her. With everything going on and she has to keep dealing with all the rumors.
