Sandra brought some humor to the stage before announcing the Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography.
Up for this Oscar in 2010 were: Avatar, Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Bastards and White Ribbon. Avatar cinematographer, Mono Mauro Fiore won this award.
Sandra Bullock was an Oscar 2010 nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Blind Side. Sandra plays a suburban mom that gives a homeless teenager a place to call home and encourages the African-American to pursue his talent as a football player. Bullock won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in The Blind Side.
The Best Actress in a Leading Role coveted Oscar was presented by Sean Penn. Other nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role include: Helen Mirren in The Last Station, Cary Mulligan An Education Gabourey Sidibe Precious, and Meryl Streep Julie & Julia. My Oscar prediction was Gabourey Sidibe for Precious.
The Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar went to Sandra Bullock; sorry Meryl. I am so happy that Sandra won her first Academy Award for The Blind Side. She brought tears to my eyes as she mentioned each nominee and said so beautifully, "We are all deserving of love."
The Blind Side that stars Sandra Bullock was also nominated for Best Picture in the Oscars 2010. Other films that were nominated: Avatar, District9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglorious Bastards, Precious, A Serious Map, Up and Up in the Air. That Oscar went to The Hurt Locker
I enjoyed the new touch the Oscars 2010 brought, with commentary from fellow actors and directors of the stars nominated for best actress in a leading role. Gabby seemed so touched during Oprah's comments before the announcement of this Oscar award.
