Sanford Wine Company: Review

A Review of the Sanford Wine Company in Sanford, FL

Brian Munger
Sanford, Florida consists of some very beautiful and historic areas and the downtown area is no exception. With quaint little shops, restaurants, and bars, as well as a beautiful courtyard and cobblestone streets, downtown Sanford is always generating a pleasant "hometown" feeling. One of the many reasons that makes downtown Sanford such an elegant part of Seminole County is the Sanford Wine Company, which is located on Palmetto Avenue.

Upon entering, you will not be blown away by the size, as the bar area is fairly small, but there are about 7 or 8 small tables (w/stools) along the walls if you can't find a chair at the bar. You will see a galore of wine bottles all around you, as well as a very friendly staff that is always up to par regarding every aspect of wine flavors and selections! The staff and owners are very personable and are always looking to make every customer 100% satisfied with their experience! And if by chance you need a breath of fresh air, they have some tables and chairs set up outside the front entrance so you can sit back and people watch!

One thing that makes the Sanford Wine Company unique is that it can easily meet the needs of all types of people. If you're the kind of person that just likes to chill out in a laid back and quiet environment, then this place will probably suit you just fine . . . but don't think for one minute that this joint can't be lively! If you like to admire local, aspiring, and up and coming musical talent, then stop by on Wednesday nights during open mic night. On two Thursdays per month, they offer a fun, but competitive trivia night, in which you can team up with friends to exhibit your wit and knowledge of vital, as well as meaningless, information! Or, if you like more of a party-type atmosphere, you can stop by on Friday or Saturday night, during which time they occasionally have a rockin' live band! No matter what your flavor, Sanford Wine Company has something to fit your needs-I've seen this place as chill as a library and as crazy as a KISS concert!

Another positive aspect of the Sanford Wine Company is the fact that the customers are all very friendly and welcoming. In the past, I've been to many wine bars that were full of snobby, stuck-up, boring white collars that pretended to know everything and anything about being sophisticated. The Sanford Wine Company is much different! Everyone there seems like they could blend in with any type of crowd, whether it be white collar, blue collar, or no collar! It's like Cheers, except everybody does not know your name! (not yet, anyways!)

The only negative thing I can really say about this establishment is the fact that it has just one bathroom (unisex), but hey, it is a very nice and clean bathroom, though! In all honesty, this is not a big deal . . . this isn't one of those places that draws in crowds by the 100's, so even with just one bathroom, your wait will not be long. Oh, make sure that you don't come here hungry-other than a cheese platter, which is VERY tasty, they don't offer many food items, so make sure you plan dinner before your outing at the wine company. Other than these two very minor setbacks, this is the perfect hangout!

So, next time you venture toward the northeast Orlando area, make sure you stop and have a glass of wine at the Sanford Wine Company! You'll be glad you did! Oh, and if wine is not your forte, then they do offer some beer, including some cold and refreshing Shipyard brews! As a personal opinion, the Shipyard "Export" flavor is always a winner if you're not in the mood for wine!

The physical address for the Sanford Wine Company is 114 South Palmetto Avenue, Sanford FL 32771. The phone number is 407-302-8620 and their website address is www.sanfordwinecompany.com
