Santa Fe Tequila Company: Another Great Denver Restaurant
Neighborhood: downtown

Even though you are in Denver, Colorado, when you walk into the Santa Fe Tequila Company you will feel a part of the rich New Mexican culture as you and your family enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the Santa Fe décor that will contribute to your dining experience. This Denver restaurant and cantina is located in the heart of the Santa Fe Arts District at 901 West 10th Avenue, at the North/West corner of 10th and Santa Fe Drive. Ample parking is available and doors are opened seven days a week at 4:00 p.m.

It is no surprise that tequilas and chilies are emphasized in the cuisine here. The Santa Fe Tequila Company offers foods that are beyond what most Americans understand to be Mexican. Pinto beans, squash, tortillas, tamales and red and green chilies compliment most of the homemade dishes served here. Prices range from moderate to expensive for these unique selections. I was pleased that there were both mild and hot and spicy food choices available here in Denver. As with most dishes, I had my choice of the red chili sauce, which is milder in flavor, or the green chili sauce, which has more of a bite with the Chicken Burrito I ordered. Or I could have ordered it "Christmas" - with both red and green chilies. I particularly enjoyed the homemade blue and white corn chips served with fresh guacamole before my meal. I found that Vegetarian dishes were limited. However, this Denver, Colorado restaurant did offer some American food choices for children.

The Agave Room at the rear of the restaurant is a private space for special occasions and parties. Although reservations are not normally required, they will be if you would like to use the Agave Room. Contact them at 303-534-7900.

I have never seen such an array of Tequilas in Denver. There were the Silvers, the traditional tequila that is clear and strong, and the mellowed Reposados. You can also select the amber colored and woody tasting Anejos or the Reserva, the Premiums in taste and price. There are many tequila based specialty drinks if you don't want to do the traditional shots. The friendly and informed bartenders are happy to serve your favorite cocktail or help you find something new to try. There is also an extensive wine list featuring wines from Spain, Argentina, Portugal and California.

Santa Fe Happy Hour takes place daily from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. And Late Night Happy Hour is Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Enjoy local and national DJ's spinning their music on Friday and Saturday nights.

I look forward to returning to the Santa Fe Tequila Company the next time I am in Denver, Colorado.
