Santa Lives!

R.D. CASTLE
When I was young, still just a kid,
my heart was broken, because;
somebody told me a terrible thing;
they said "There is no Santa Claus!"

I found this very hard to believe,
and as my eyes filled up with tears,
I wondered who had brought me all those wonderful gifts,
throughout my childhood years?

But, while growing up, I saw many things,
that made Santa seem so very real;
come share a few of these things with me;
and then tell me how you feel.

I saw a man, no home for him,
so he sat frozen in the street,
but then a shelter took him in to rest;
giving him a warm blanket, and a hot meal to eat.

I saw a Father, whose job was lost,
worried about the Christmas joys his kids might miss;
then some strangers came, bringing lots of toys,
no Santa Claus, what's this?

I saw a family's home burn down, one winter month,
and I saw a whole town pull together;
they rebuilt that home, all volunteering;
despite the very cold and bitter weather.

No Santa Claus, then what's all this?
I really think that someone fibbed;
because if each of us look deep within our hearts,
we will see that SANTA LIVES!!
