Santa Uses Duracell Batteries?

***
According to a radio ad by Duracell, Santa Clause uses Duracell batteries to power all of the electronic toys he sends to boys and girls around the world on Christmas Eve. Is this a cute marketing ploy or a case of false advertising?

Although this little marketing scheme is harmless, it does bring up a valid argument for those who believe in truth in advertising. *Santa spoiler alert*: Most people over the age of ten are aware that Santa Clause exists only in the imaginary world of rudolph, elves, and dancing candy canes. The true "Santas" of the world are parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and pretty much all of the Christmas gift-giving public.

So if Santa Clause does not really exist, then the claim that he uses Duracell batteries must be false, as well. And if the claim that Santa uses Duracell batteries is false, then some may argue that the validity of all claims in the Duracell battery advertisements must be called into question.

Others would argue that it doesn't really matter. However, a month after Christmas, when Turbo Elmo dies in the middle of rapping "I Love You, You Love Me", and little Johnny comes crying to you to "Fix it!", you might want to think twice before reaching for the copper top.

Fifteen billion batteries are purchased around the world each year. About two billion of those batteries are purchased in the United States.
