Sanyo Eneloop Solar Light & Charger: A Great Eco-friendly Gadget from Sanyo!

Recently while browsing some eco friendly gadgets online I came across this bright little Eneloop Solar Light. It is a nice little addition in Sanyo Eneloop Solar family.

Sanyo has been trying hard to make their green-eco friendly image with the series of rechargeable batteries (Eneloop), due to great response in Japan Sanyo will be continuing the series keeping in mind the presence of green geeks everywhere. In my opinion Sanyo Eneloop Solar Light is a perfect combination of a handy 9-bulb LED light & a solar USB charger.

Sanyo Eneloop Solar Light comes with 9 bright LED bulbs. You can use all the 9 bulbs at once for bright illumination or as a spotlight for long term usage. When it was fully charged I could use all the 9 bulbs running at once for nearly about 8 hours (7 hrs. 58 min to be precise) & when used only 1 bulb it lasted for about more than a day (30 hrs. 45 min.). But Sanyo claims that, it would supply you with bright illumination for about 9 hrs & as a spotlight for about 35 hrs, though I don't think that's a big exaggeration. The only thing I didn't like that in regular sunshine the batteries took about 18 hours to get fully charged. Besides this these batteries really deliver good performance.

Another great thing about Eneloop solar charger is that it comes with a USB port. You know what I mean? Yes the Eneloop solar charger can give your electronic gadgets a descent energy boost. So now stop worrying about those dead batteries of camera or discharged iPod while you are travelling.

I think USB port is the future of all electronic devices. Because using same USB charger for every device would help to cut down the e-waste of different chargers. But the latest charger technology puts the Eneloop solar charger to a next level. The power strips of the charger can stop the leak of power to already charged devices.

As far as build is concerned Eneloop Solar Light is quite bulky, it weighs around 1 kg & size of a medium notepad, some of us won't be comfortable with it. But it's not a problem when you are on a trip or camping.

Overall, Sanyo Eneloop Solar Light is a great eco-friendly outdoor companion. It's available online for $262, might seem a bit pricey but a good long term step towards the GREEN!
