Sara Ramirez may be the most diverse of all the cast members of the hit television series Grey's Anatomy. The Tony Award winner, born August 31, 1976, is a Mexican actress and singer. Ramirez was born in a Pacific coast Mexican resort, Mazatlan, Sinaloa. She was raised in San Diego, California where she graduated high school. Following high school, Sara was accepted into the prestigious Julliard School in New York City. At Julliard, Ramirez crafted her talent and trained as a singer and actress.
Following her training at Julliard, Ramirez landed a role in the 1998 Broadway production of The Capeman. Ramirez's Broadway success continued and was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle nomination for Best Actress for her stellar performance in the 1999 production of Fascinating Rhythm. Sara Ramirez's Broadway career would continue as she went on to perform the Broadway production of A Class Act and the off-Broadway production, The Vagina Monologues.
Ramirez continued to appear in local and regional stage productions, in addition to her Broadway performances. She also starred in Monty Python's Spamalot, where she earned a Tony Award in 2005 for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical. She also received an award from The Outer Critics Circle for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical.
Ramirez spent some of her summer in 2004 at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Following the Williamstown Thatre Festival, she returned to her role in the soap opera As the World Turns, where she played a character named Hannah. During 2004, Ramirez appeared on various television shows. She appeared in the 2004 season finale of NYPD Blue and appeared in the Untitled Hotel Project. She has appeared in other shows to include: Law & Order: SVU, Third Watch, Spin City, Talk to Me, As the World Turns, and countless other unaired pilot episodes.
After finding success on television and Broadway, Sara Ramirez has made her way to the big screen. She appeared in the movie You've Got Mail as the Zabar's cashier and again in Spider Man as the cop at an accident scene. Sara also made a brief appearance in Washington Heights and again in the Going Under.
Sara Ramirez continues her role on Grey's Anatomy, which is set to begin filming its fourth season this summer. She was featured on the April 2007 issue of Latina Magazine and InStyle Magazine. She will appear in the June 2007 issue of People Espanol. Sara Ramirez was also featured in the May 2007 edition of O Magazine.

I don't watch Grey's regularly, but when I do, I always enjoy Sara's performance. She's cute and fun! Had no idea she was on Broadway. Good overview.
