As with most politicians she does have some baggage. The bridge to nowhere motto is a little deceptive. While Alaska is not building the Bridge to Nowhere, the federal funds for the bridge went into the Alaskan treasury. There is also a little investigation going on over possible abuse of power concerning a heavy drinking, Taser wielding Alaskan state trooper formerly related to the governor. A state owned dairy deal gone bad, is a minor issue.
As politicians go she is about a clean as you can get. While the bridge money didn't end up in the Hurricane Katrina fund, Governor Palin did at least mention that Alaska needs to rely less on federal funding. Anything to stem the tide of pork is a good thing.
The state trooper thing will probably die an appropriate death legally, but she will have to deal with fanatical liberal sound bites for the next century or two. Then that is politics is it not?
Signing a deal to build the gas pipeline to the states after selecting a Canadian company as the only qualified contractor could create some controversy, but since big oil is the new Devil that should not be a big deal.
Her destruction of the Alaskan good old boy network, republicans heavily included, is a breath of fresh air. Politicians of any gender, race, religion or political conviction are generally not to be trusted. The jobs don't pay enough for the aggravation so there must be some ulterior motive. Who in their right mind would want to be president? Only an ego maniac or some old fart that doesn't give a crap who has what to say about them.
This presidential election has plenty of potential to be one of the best mud slingers in decades. Whatever you do when it comes time to vote remember "present" is not an option.

Post a CommentGreat last line. Too bad so many Americans didn't care.
Late to the party with this one -- but you did hear Dennis Miller's plug for his ideal dream ticket in 2012? Newtie and the Beauty -- Gingrich/Palin. If he's careful about the climate change stuff, that's a ticket I'll buy.
Very good job here. I too am excited about the next two months of campaign. Sarah is "fair game" for the media, but they had better be careful how they go about it! They have already angered a lot of people, including me with their biased comments (especially the women commentators). Glad to see you back writing again. Did the fishing thingy get done? Hope you did well.
Very good! Spot on, my friend! -J
Judi, few politicians write their own speeches. Palin, however is quite capable of writing her own since she was a journalist. A politician changing their mind! I am shocked!
She didn't write the speach, she also had different views on things last week, last month and last year, check it out and then tell me again how she parroted McCain and Bush in this speech written for her with the words of others.
Yes, I too can now feel good about casting a historic vote. ;)
I definitely agree she's sharp as a tack and her speech was excellent last night. The next few months of mud slinging, err, campaigning will be interesting.
