Sarah Palin Confrontation Takes a New Twist

FireDavidLetterman.Com A Backlash Against Freedom of Speech

Sarah Palin and David Letterman indifferences are taking on a whole new level of confrontation with a website dedicated to firing David Letterman. Palin appeared on the show a few weeks ago and Letterman took some time to make some jabs at Palin's appearance as being deemed provocative and made some general references about her young daughters in an inappropriate nature.

David Letterman is known for late night heroics and wheezy comical where he takes cheap jabs at his guests on the show. Sarah Palin should have known that before going on the show what Letterman does especially since her skit on Saturday Night Live. Media sources have really blown this out of proportion and both parties seem to be caught in the middle. Sarah Palin supporters have created a website calling for the firing of David Letterman (www.firedavidletterman.com) that's wants to gain support and pressure CBS into firing Letterman for his inappropriate comments that lack any substance.

The whole escapade is quite comical since everyone is this country is suppose to have a right to free speech, but as sensitive as society is today everyone is so uptight about saying something they feel for the fear of persecution. If you don't like what or how someone says something stay away from them and don't listen to them.

David Letterman is a late night show and known for saying things on the whim. If you don't want to be a part of the charades then don't accept an invite to the show. Sarah Palin went on the show knowing that cheap shots were going to happen and that the Letterman show would keep her in the spotlight since her infamous run with John McCain as vice president of the United States.

Firing David Letterman is not the answer because he went out of his way to exploit Sarah Palin's appearance. I'm not a big fan of Letterman's, but don't think he should be fired for silly comments that have any substance or effect on Palin's professional future. When is it that it's a crime of Freedom of Speech in America? Everyday it's a like a circus in the media when someone says something that hurts or speaks the facts as they see it about someone. Take Don Imus and his remarks about Rutgers women's basketball team. I ask "Who really cares what an old ugly looking man says?" He has no influence in their lives and just because he says something he's thinking people get offended. We may not agree with what someone says or their prospective on things, but we shouldn't have the right to control their freedom of speech.

Personally, I distance myself from people I don't like or agree with and I can care less what they say about me because words don't mean anything. David Letterman and Sarah Palin's little debacle would probably be done, but as gossip is king in America so will the feud of Letterman and Palin carry on.

The website www.firedavidletterman.com is funny and the people that support it has that right just as everyone should have the right to say what they want regarding any issue. I wouldn't care if Letterman is fired because I don't like his personality, but firing over the freedom of speech is unconstitutional.

I think this one actually shook Letterman up and made him rethink his stance. Yes, we have free speech but people are also free to react to speech as they wish. I heard the actual picketing had a low turnout.

Personally, I don't think anyone should be fired for comments, but we're living in a sensitive society where people love to cause problems. Imus shouldn't have been fired because he's dumb and made ignorant comments that's his right. Our rights is that we don't have to listen to the comments and we can say what we think as well.

Just like a man--not being sensitive. What would your comment be if it were your family--if you have one? We can't say anything about the blacks it is about time we all stand up and speak what we want to say also. Imus was fires for a black comment so why shouldn't Letterman be fired for a white comment>? You are not being fair.

This is ridiculous, plain and simple. Out of all the "insults" David Letterman has given over the years (and there has been plenty of them towards women), no one has made a debacle like they are doing now. People should realize what his job is, to make people laugh. And just like every other person who is in that line of work, there will be people who dont like what he/she says. He has apologized more than once and that should be more than good enough. Sarah Palin knew when she got into office that she should control her children or suffer the consequences of the media. She failed. Every left wing feminist group should focus their attentions on people who would actually harm women. Lastly, was is distasteful for Letterman to say what he did.....yes. Should he be fired...no. And for all the idiots who came up with, and following, the website "www.firedavidletterman.com"....do us all a favor and get a hobby.
